ayn rand and her followers mistake a metaphysical dogma for logical reasoning, and therefore immunize themselves from rational opposition to their beliefs. They use specific jargon like "stolen concept fallacy" and a very weak idea that knowledge is "hierarchical" to thwart every attempt to engage with rand's ideas through rational discourse. As such, objectivism is a religion, not a philosophy, which makes of it's central tenets articles of faith rather than sensible principles. People are attracted to rand because she is anti-authoritarian, atheistic, and pro-science. Unfortunately, along with those, however, comes pro-capitalism, an unethical extreme individualism that justifies anti-social behavior through the recasting of selfishness as a virtue, and, first and foremost, a deification of Ayn Rand and her objectivism as a persecuted minority of right thinkers in a world gone mad against them
