I decided although I really love t shirt sheets- I needed to buy a decent pair of adult-like 400 thread count. So I did. Sleeping on them last night- I have to say they feel oddly slippery- not nearly as luxurious as I thought. Maybe my skin is just more accustomed to t shirt material?
I got home last night after a very quick run around the nautilus machines at the gym and a trip to Marshalls to buy said slippery sheets.
Both my roommates were home and the New Orleans/Atlanta game on the tv. My living room was officially Man Town for the evening. Hey that's ok. When it's Wednesday- they know full well it's all about America's Next Top Model and Project Runway- and there are no complaints from them- so they will hear none from me.
I have noticed that Leo, the new roommate, has picked up where Matt, the old roommate, left off- being the more typical "I don't put the toilet seat down and I drop food on the floor and don't think to pick it up" male figure in the house. When Joe and I were living at the Dorchester house on our own- it stayed relatively clean- for a guy- other than the mess he leaves from clipping his beard- he's pretty tidy. Leo, on the other hand, while lovely on every other account is far from tidy. I am trying to get accustomed to looking at the toilet before I sit down as the toilet seat is now almost always up. I guess my question is- Is it out of line to ask them to put the toilet seat down when a) it is THEM that need to put it up for peeing purposes so they should put it down or b) They are the majority in the household and therefore the seat needs to be up more than it needs to be down?. These nullify each other- so I am not sure whether I could say something without seeming really out of line.
Don't get me wrong- I love living with the guys. First of all- they sort of assume it's their job to deal with trapping and then disposing of mice, changing lightbulbs and unglogging toilets- and that really is pretty nice. Since neither of them really care what the apartment looks like they have no problem with me taking over on the interior design....which is a great comfort to me- with those delicate aesthetic sensibilities of mine. Not to mention the lack of drama that goes on in the house since men are generally just so much more straight forward where things are concerned. Despite nearly falling into the toilet on a dozen occassions, finding rice chex all over the kitchen floor and salsa blobs on my bills I have to say I will take male roommates over female roommates any day of the week.
So obviously about 10 minutes into the football game I was bored senseless. Joe and I have been putting all our music on my new laptop so I plugged my ipod in to do the final update.
Holy shit-o-la.
I have quite nearly filled the thing. Also- awhile back my dad gave me an ipod dock from Jamo, where he works, so finally there was a point in setting this up. Being bored to death by football was enough motivation to get up off the couch, go up to my room, clean, change sheets, put up new curtains and remove the big bulky boombox from my sidetable in favour of my sleek, minimalist designery ipod dock and wee little speakers.
Waking up this morning to a sparse, uncluttered side table and morning light sifting through my new laser cut drapes was more than awesome. I wanted to call in sick just so I could spend another 2 hours lounging around under my comforter looking around. Ah- but no- you can't really call your boss " I am sorry- I can't come in today- my room is just too pretty to leave..."
