i hate when things, by which i mean songs, are covered, and then people credit the coverer with it. it's not the worst thing in the world, but it is pretty lame. and i don't even mean really obscure songs, i mean pretty standard or at least notable songs. you can't really blame the coverer, because what are they supposed to do, and it's kind of unfair to blame the listener, but really listeners should be smarter
anyway the latest case of this was leonard cohen's i'm your man being done by michael buble. i wouldn't mind but michael buble is lame. and i mean, he doesn't suck, i'm not going to say he sucks, but the only way i can really describe him is lame.
i think leonard cohen gets passed over a bit for hallelujah, too. everyone loves jeff buckley doing it, and he deserves some credit for bringing it down a bit, but still, it's not all his.
another recent example is some guy on american idol (i only heard about it, i promise) doing chris cornell's version of billie jean. and i guess everyone was just like oh you were so creative, but he wasn't. and again it's not really his fault.
i don't know, what are some others.. luckily i think it is not too frequent. but it happens every once in awhile
