Th 5 best things about my holiday in Japan.

1.  Tokyo
It's true, it's true, I am a city girl at heart.  Not nearly as weird or alienating as that Coppola woman would have us believe.  People, food, transport, pandas at the zoo - all great.  I managed to spend the better part of 4 hours in the foreign language section of Kinokuniya.  Harajuku is a must see not for the poaturing costumed kids, but for the divine Meiji Shrine parkland with autumn leaves.  Staying on the executive floor of the Tokyo Hilton and the free cocktails.  Never has a person drank 3 Kir Royales so quickly.  Getting lost trying to find Milton and his gay bar of choice in Shinjuku.
2. Nikko
The 3 moneys, buying my dragon painting, eating bi bim bap  and hiking to my first outdoor onsen.
3. Tokyu Hands
A veritable orgasm in 8 floors of arts and craft delight.  Managed to spend five days of my food budget on stationary alone.
3. Onsen
The best batch of my list was at Adam and Eve in Roppongi.  The information I found stated it was Pierce Brosnan's place of choice.  Well, if it's good enough for Bond, it's good enough for me.  Speaking of which...
4.  Movies in Kyoto
Casino Royale - Bond is back, and how!  (Daniel Craig, take me now) - and Iwo Jima with no subtitles.  I love me some Eastwood, Ken Watanabe remains do-able and the yound boy band actor was quite a find.  Kyoto was probably my least favourite place visited, due in no small part to illness, annoying fuckwit Londoner in my group, roommate who turned the lights on at 7.30am to apply something to her face with a paintbrush and the horrid weather.  Nara was gorgeous, but the sudden cold snap and the aroma of deershit did not help any.  BTW - those animals will eat anything, including strawberry icecream.  And it's paper wrapper.
5. Not being at home
There is nothing like getting away from the horror my life has been in the past 3 months than physically getting away.
