1) No cake testing this weekend. We wound up visiting a former Concordian and former teacher at Luther South. She got out before things got really bad, but knows the parties involved and just couldn't believe it. She now lives in New Jersey so we don't see her a lot. She pretty much assured us she will be at the wedding, so that is pretty exciting.
2) We did pick out wedding verses. We are using I Corinthians 13 (Love is Patient, Love is Kind) Psalm 150 (Praise the Lord (with various instruments) and Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
3) We also picked out the wedding invitations. I/We are not cluing anyone into them until they arrive. Laura said it was like her wedding dress- she just knew it was the one. I was pleasantly surprised too! Needless to say, they will be printed in Purple.
4) On a wedding note. Laura and I both are not big on having real flowers at the wedding. We saw at Triple B's (Bed Bath and Beyond) what was basically a table arrangement of fall foliage. Would it be tacky to take that and use it for the Bridesmaids? It's fall and in season, but it isn't very "artistic" just a nice grouping of flowers. A woman's advice would be helpful. Laura would even be fine with no flowers, but she wants simple.
5) SO, the other thing we were surprised to find out is that our bedding was being discontinued at Triple B's. Seriously, we were glad we just happened to browse the store and see it on clearance. Now, here is where I sing their praises. They can do a "Bridal Hold". Basically, because our store didn't have all the pieces to the bedding, they are getting different things from different stores and they are all being brought to our store. So, even if no one gets them (There is a note on our registry saying that they are being held) They will keep EVERYTHING for 2 years after our wedding for us to purchase on our own. Seriously, I give them props for that! We did pick out a new Fall 2008 Pattern, so there shouldn't be a problem. Besides, it can't hurt to have another set of bedding!
6) So on a whim, we checked things out a Target. Sure enough, there are some things being discontinued there. I guess it is good to check every now and then. So, we have 2 TV's on the registry. The first one, and now a new one. Of course, do I really think someone would get us a TV---- NO. But, Laura wanted it on there and who knows....
7) Some quick works things... Prissy is still here. She was supposed to be done the end of last month. They have her, who has been here less than a year- training the new guy. She's leaving!! Is it in our best interest to have someone who is leaving train a new person??? The other new girl, Joanna, seems really nice. Sabina, a new editor, seems very quiet and I was good enough to get a formal introduction. Seriously, the editorial department is a bunch of snobs!
7b) So a coworker is feuding with her ex-boyfriend. He called today and to try and get revenge on her accused her of stealing the petty cash money to supply her drug habit. OK, first of all, there are only 2 people who have access to the key. Second, you'd have to be insane to go into their desk to get and then go to the lock and open it. However, this is just causing drama all over the place. Maybe there is money missing, I would never know, but we all know about the problem, and I think he is an ass to try and stir things up at her place of employment. She's not my favorite coworker, but I feel bad that this is going on.
Anyway, I think that catches you up. Thank Goodness Gustav wasn't much worse, and then in the Atlantic now is Hanna, Ike, and Josephine. I'm sorry, but Laura is this year's "L" name and she wants to be a storm.
wedding,
