HISTORY Kaoru (along with his twin brother Hikaru) grew up in a world where he used to reject others, being very close minded as to who to let into this "bubble" that he and his brother created with each other. It seemed no one would ever accept them, nor did it seem that anyone cared to notice that he and his brother are different people, even if they are identical. The parental unit were hardly ever around due to their busy lifestyles, mother being a famous fashion designer and father being a computer software designer. Once there was a maid that Kaoru and his brother became very close to, however, when they asked her to play along with one of their games, she told them that no one would ever be able to tell them apart. From that, it was believed that no one would ever be able to tell them apart, or care enough to actually try.
That all changed in middle school, after meeting a transfer student named Tamaki, who constantly tried to tell them apart. In high school, they became friends, and thanks to Tamaki, the brothers started becoming more social. They let other people into their lives. It was no longer a world of just Hikaru and Kaoru, but Hikaru, Kaoru, and friends who were like family, too.
Kaoru stayed in Japan, trying to figure out how to do his own thing, and feeling as though it would be best for his brother if they were separated. He had hoped that they could both benefit from being apart, grow, and ... be different. Unfortunately, it's just not the same. Things have not been as fun, and how could he know for sure that Hikaru was keeping his temper in check? They surely don't have so far apart in order to be different.
Kaoru's mission: to go to Cross and surprise his twin brother~
Hikaru and Kaoru are very much contradictions. They grew up wanting people to tell them apart, but then... not really, because it could possibly mean they had something to tear them apart. They wanted to make friends and meet people, but then not exactly, because they could never decide whether or not they are willing to let other people into their world. They wanted to be their own person, individuals, but then again, not really, because they are afraid of being apart.
CURRENT STUFFS Kaoru has ~ulterior motives~
He's moved into the dorms in order to try becoming more independent, both for his sake and Hikaru's. He doesn't really want to. He'd much rather be with Hikaru. However, he knows that their co-dependency on each other causes more harm than good and that it needs to change. His tendency to underestimate his brother causes him feel he's the one that needs to take action and do what he thinks is best for them, without discussing anything with Hikaru first. Kaoru tends to do this more often than not, not because he doesn't trust Hikaru, but because he's sure Hikaru won't like hearing any of it.
He hopes that by being in the dorms, going out, doing things and meeting people without his brother will give Hikaru the push he needs to become more independent. Kaoru hopes this will make Hikaru feel that he needs to do the same thing... though he's trying to figure out exactly how to get him to get out there and actually do things for himself.
PERSONALITY I could tell you, but I swear, after re-reading
this book I've owned forever, I realized it is Kaoru AND Hikaru to a T.
So... a version more brief? Kaoru is very devious! With his twin brother, his devious nature usually increases. He is awfully energetic, flirty, playful, and loves to joke around. He loves to play pranks, but oooh how troublesome things can become when he's really bored (which happens fairly easily)! Pranks and stuff are to the highest degree, even if it means pretend fighting with his brother. It's hard to tell whether it's for real or just pretend. They pretend so well. He also enjoys dressing people up and doing their hair. He usually goes along with whatever game his brother starts, because it's fun for him. By himself? People tend to be somewhat surprised by the fact that he is the calmer, quieter, more normal and mature one of the two. He's actually rather thoughtful, kind and considerate of people's feelings. Kaoru is able to control his emotions, though sometimes he isn't always honest and bottles things up in order to protect his brother. This is also what makes him the sneakier one of the two. He understands that it is not healthy for them to be codependent on each other, so he tries to learn how to embrace their differences and take interests in different things.
RELATIONSHIPS
✭
Hikaru Hitachiin || Twin brother || Also known as his mirror image, or his bestestestest friend ever!! They totally love being all over each other because they simply CAN. They also double the pleasure, double the fun, and ESPECIALLY double the TROUBLE!!
♕
Tamaki Suou || Close friend || If Tamaki never existed, the twins would probably still be hating the universe and not letting anyone into their lives.
✿
Hitomi Kanzaki || Friend || Tamaki's lady girlfriend. She lives in Tamaki's mansion along with the twins. \o/
♬
Natsuo Sagan || Associate || One of the most stylish people he's met so far, and is also very fun to play with~
✉
Peter White || Associate || AKA White Rabbit-san!! Kaoru just likes him for some reason. Maybe it's because he dresses like a bunny, or because he's easy to annoy, and is therefore fun to mess with? Who knows~ +___+
♚
Kyouya Ootori || Friend || AKA Mommy who takes care of everything. 8)
☠
Shiba Reiichiro || Friend || Kaoru refers to him as "Shinigami," or "Death," for the simple fact that Shiba dressed as a Grim Reaper for April Fool's Day, which is when they first really talked. They have this weird comfort with each other and seem to get along very easily... wonder why that is. >8F
⌛
Yoite || Friend || Despite the fact that their first encounter with each other was rather rocky (Yoite was on the verge of hurting Kaoru, but only managed to grab Kaoru's neck without hurting him), somehow Kaoru feels he needs to continue to try getting through to Yoite. There's just something about Yoite that Kaoru feels he really understands and sympathizes with... Their next encounter was when Yoite's vision had gone bad, and he could not see Kaoru, and was therefore the first time he really spoke with Kaoru. Kaoru took advantage and spoke with Yoite in return. Since then, they've been getting better and are slowly becoming friends.
