Who started it?

When I watch the media reports on the Israel vs. Hezbollah conflict, I become disgusted. The news reports are acting as if Israel is just pounding the shit our of southern Lebanon for no apparent reason. The attitude that I get from these reports is that Israel is some how at fault for thier massive retaliation against the Hezbollah attacks.

Let's go back to the play ground: Who started it? I dont seem to remember the Israeli army doing anything to Lebanon until the middle of July, right when Hezbollah crossed the border and kidnapped Israeli soldiers. They now are holding these soldiers for ransom. They want thier terrorist brethren released from jails. Oh and then they begin to fire rockets into Israel, as well. So, is a massive response out of line here?

Let's not forget that Hezbollah has broken every single cease fire agreement they have ever signed. Let's not forget that a plank in thier "party" platform is the complete destruction of Israel. Should the Israelis hold back from defending themselves?

Southern Lebanon is controlled by these terrorists and the elected government is afraid to send in the army to quash them because they fear another civil war would erupt. So, they have all but admitted that they will do nothing to stop this. Why then should thier be no response to the attacks?

Lastly, we have "OHHHHHH THE CIVILIANS". I understand that it is paramount to do your best to protect innocent people in wartime. But, are these people really innocent? Many of them actively support Hezbollah and thier operations. Many that are not active supporters are passive supporters in that they turn a blind eye to these terrorist's operations in thier communities.

Israel is surrounded by hostile neighbors who have banded together to attack them before. Now some of thier neighbors are not active enemies. They are not launching a military campaign against Israel. as much as they might wish to. Why? Because they tried that before and they where met with a massive military onslaught. The invaders actually lost territory that was taken by Israel. So, can we really fault Israel's big stick policy? It is one thing to have that big military stick, but quite another to use it. Israel not only has the stick, but they arent afraid to take a swing when they need to do so. I, for one, can not find fault with that. I actually believe that the Israeli response to ANOTHER round of unprovoked attacks on it's CIVILIAN population has been well thought out.

My last question: Why is it ok to take innocent Israeli lives, but when civilians who live near Hezbollah targets are accidently injured are killed, the Israelis are the bad guys? As if the terrorists running southern Lebanon have ANY regard for ANY life Israeli, Lebanese or otherwise.

Fair and balanced my lilly white ass. The media in this country needs to stop thinking about ratings and start thinking about reporting the NEWS, with no agenda.

Thanks for listening.
