Hidey Hidey Hidey Hi
What is going on here? Somehow we're finishing up the third week of school, and I feel like it's just flew by. Granted the past few weeks have been a total blitzkrieg... here's some highlights:
The Fair:
I returned to purgatory for another year, tho it was fun. Lenny hired a hot receptionist to get me to work ("If you come back, I'll have a surprise for you..."). I got my assistant Shane a job working there, and he did great. He's a good kid, even if he goes into laughing fits every few minutes. Despite all the warnings we had given him, I was afraid he was going to snap his neck looking at girls as they passed.
Blood Sweat and Tears remembered me from the last time they were in town- David is a funny guy. I have a crush on Charo, despite the fact she is 60. She hugged me, and I knew that I was in love... Although, she had these amazing dancers with her, and I almost died while watching their sound check. There were two guy dancers (gay) and two girl dancers (hot) doing all kinds of latin dance. The girl dancers did this move at the end of a song that words can not rightly describe: From a standing position, they both did a backwards flip (much like Guile's lightning kick in Street Fighter II). at 270 degrees, using only their legs, they caught on to the guys who were standing behind them, at the waist, reverse cowboy style, with their arms up in the air. Shane almost passed out- he is only 17 after all and that was a lot for anyone to take.
The mob made an appearance... Granted I am making an assumption here, but you have to understand: Franky Jr's security man was rather large, in a three piece suit, and had something like 30 $100 bills on him which he had to flip through in order to find a 20. Upon returning with the bottle of jack as requested, he asked my name. "That's a good name," he said. , I was told that when I was in Vegas (not if, when) to ask for him by name. Everyone knows him out there.
Charlie Danials drew a large crowd, and he asked us to BBQ for him, as our equipment was set up from our clambake a couple of days before. Jim Belushi was there, we cooked all day, drank all night, and partied with a Belushi, a bunch of state troopers, and a K9. He's a really funny guy, and also really down to earth. It was a good time.
El Boston Brasso
The second weekend of school, we had a recording session with these guys. There's nothing like recording a CD of christmas music in September... apparently they're all recorded in September. Anyways, the sessions went really well- it was much more laid back than the ones last year. I had had the experience of hanging out with these guys on a more personal level before, but nothing had prepared me for what happened when we went out with them.
Us Grad types decided to show them what Syracuse had to offer. After dinner at suds, we went to Awful Als and had a few drinks. Maybe "a few" isn't entirely accurate. Maybe things went a little nuts. Maybe JD had me buying shots with his credit card for competitions which might or might not have happened. Maybe the next day, when we told Dr. Laverty "You know your rule- we can do whatever we want as long as we don't embarrass you?" his response was "Oh god!"
Though that night was a blast. Strangely, I feel partially responsible for buying that first round....
School of Music VS Fine Arts
We Win, although I would have paid to see an Angry Steven Meyer throw a pen at Dr. Tapia.
Kevin and Ladd have jobs- congratulations. The tuba page is renewed for another year, so look for some work on that soon. SU Football 1 - 0, with the home opener on Saturday. SU Basketball will be playing the Harlem Globetrotters in November.
More to come
