quick update

Aug 23, 2012 11:30

So, two things:

Thing the first; all my books have arrived! Saturday through to early morning Tuesday were kind of iffy but this has redeemed it. I've already started in on Black Heart; I can tell it's already going to be a good as the first two in the trilogy. I am so excited ( Read more... )

what: books, quick update, fandom: curseworkers

Excuse this journal, which really needs to be developed into something useful. I can't believe you had an armed robbery so nearby. Actually I can, but it is still an awful shock. It is times like this when the idea of downsizing to a little apartment in a block of flats doesn't sound like such a bad idea.

Now on to the gifs. If you have Photoshop, under 'file' there should be an option called 'save for web and screen devices' which will allow you to save a file in that format. I guess it depends on which version of Photoshop you have. What do you need the gif for?

It's times like these that I'm really grateful for our electric fence. Our area - it's meant to be safe, you know. And it is, for the most part, but then things like this happen and you're reminded just how ...unsafe it can be.

One of those secure neighbourhoods would be lovely.

I have the software, I figured it's about time to start tinkering. I have Photoshop CS5, is that fairly recent?

Also, added this journal if that's okay. I absolutely love your icons, by the way!

As long as you're OK and you stay that way. I must check your journal more often.

Photoshop CS 5 is very recent. I'm still working on CS 4 but that is sufficient for digital art, heck, even CS 2 is sufficient for digital art.

Aw thanks, I will add yours back. Feel free to remove my older journal. The icons I have here were made for DA but I figured I should put them to good use. Many are based on a fantasy photo shoot Saoirse did (yes, her again).

The program I used for the animation is Graphics Gale. It is great for pixel art.

Oh, we're all fine - well, as fine as we ever are.

Excellent.

I might just do that. Would it be worth it to track down the pictures from her fantasy photo shoot? I've recently started to dip my toes into Tumblr, so I'm sure I could probably track them down there if necessary.

How goes, by the way? Work still eating up most of your time?

I'm glad to hear it.

The photo shoot is called the Cult of Beauty and appeared in Vogue magazine. The girl is quite spellbinding. I am still largely unfamiliar with the workings of Tumblr but I hear it is worth a look.

Work has been eating up a lot of time, but it isn't the sort of work you'd expect. It's mostly admin at the moment; e-mailing people, communicating what must be drawn and uploading large files. I need a secretary.

To be honest, I generally just go to Google and type in what I want. Google is a godsend like that.

Have you considered possibly getting someone in to help you with the admin things? Even just as a part-time sort of thing.

*You have not seen this journal yet. I am just too lazy to log out and back in again.*

At least I have my tax-sorter-outer, who has made the path smooth for me. I think I'll be fine. I am also a little flooded with tags so I am just apologizing to everyone in case I've forgotten them (sorry).

How are you doing, in RL and/ or RP?

*bitty!Hel is always welcome!*

This is true. I think on the grander scheme of things, having a tax-sorter-outer is probably better than a kick in the teeth.

Eh, both are at a lull at the moment; on the RP-front Marie and I are playing with out vampires for the most part, and having a lot of fun.

*In that case, have the older one too. Also, appropriate icon is appropriate- for vampires that is.*

I could have sworn I'd seen your vamps out and about. I may have spotted your faery too. I must send Folaigh after her one day.

The faery is still a work in progress, though I seem to have the most luck with developing people when I play them off of others. Right now she seems to be more a Boo Hag than a Banshee; they feed off life by stealing people's breath.

And, yes, they've been out an about; poor Jon's joined ssws and has, predictably, been dog-piled. There's also another a Mina around, which both Jon and Dracula have been speaking too.

Playing off others often changes any preconceptions I have about a character. Boo Hags sound fascinating, as all these obscure creatures are.

I can only imagine how Jon is feeling. Shame. It's strange that a new Mina should appear when you've had a fairly closed RP circuit. Who is her PB?

Hags, on the whole, are quite fascinating creatures; they seem to be a cross between banshee, sluagh and mara.

She seems to be from a short-lived TV series called Demons but she also uses Winona Ryder, from the Coppola movie.

Otherwise, when will be a good time for me to spirit you away from a day out - or at the very least some sort of break?

hagiaofhelheim August 24 2012, 18:26:53 UTC
Agreed. I must actually write more about the 'Storm Hags' in Folaigh's family as well as the Sluagh Sidhe on her father's side.

How is Marie taking to Winona! Mina?

When would you like to spirit me away, or vice versa? I should be able to go any time in the weekend or early next week.

I was wondering if it'd be okay if I nabbed that icon of yours - I will credit, of course - because it really is so beautiful.

Well, Radu tagged her post and she, in turn, has tagged on of Jon's; Marie needs to get back from work before she can tag her back but I'll keep you posted.

How about Monday or Tuesday? We can go see a movie and maybe grab some coffee?

Oh please do, by all means. This icon set for Hel ranges from elegant to gory. I've learned where to find great source images.

Monday sounds good. As always, the car is in use until lunch time but should be available afterwards! If you don't mind seeing Brave again, I'd love to go and have a peek.

Soairse Ronan has a tremendous amount of dignity and presence for someone so young.

Monday's perfect; I don't mind seeing Brave again and I don't mind dropping you off at home afterwards if needs be.
