Day 11 - A book that disappointed you
There've been a couple of those, especially lately. However, the top contenders are:
Coraline by Neil Gaiman; as surprised as I am to actually admit this, the film was much better than the book. I'm not even sure why this is the case exactly. Possibly because Gaiman's stuff just tends to work a lot better in a more visual medium. Or maybe it was because the director just really knew what he was doing.
Mostly Harmless by Douglas Adams; it had it's moments but ultimately didn't live up to the previous books, I thought.
Slave to the Crown by Katica Locke; okay so I should probably not have expected as much from this book as I did but the excerpt I read showed a lot of promise. I think that maybe if the author had taken a bit more time to build up to the...erm... pay off, it would've turned out to be a much more satisfying read on the whole.
Oh, and to not use the word 'weeping' when referring to either of the two main characters's penises -- or is that penii? Whatever, you get the point -- because, well... it just sounds silly. It also makes me think about the heading for the LJ comm of the same name: 'this is what it sounds like when penises cry'.
