Update

Not sure why I update about random shit in my life. Maybe I think someone actually gives a rats ass and is curious to what I'm up to. I don't know. I kind of like getting it on 'paper' and it clears my mind of some clutter. It can be therapeutic for me at times.

I'm trying to learn how to let things go lately. It's an uphill battle though. I tend to let things stick around and fester. I know it's bad for me, but when I hit a wall with trying to get it resolved I tend to over rationalize and then it gets ugly. People do shit for whatever reason they do shit, and I need to not let it bog down my life when it doesn't interfere directly anymore. Things happen, time to move on with what can't be fixed/answered.

I finally broke down this spring and ordered a new saddle for myself and Hen. It was pinching his back and that is detrimental to his health and my riding ability. I would like to learn to ride properly and eventually get back in the show ring. Riding in improperly fitting equipment is nothing but counter productive. So I had to give half down when I ordered it. The sales lady said it would be 6-8 weeks. It's been 6, so I'm hoping to hear from her soon. The problem is that I will be out of town off and on for the next 2 weeks. So I emailed her last week about this and told her to please get back to me. No such luck. If I'm out of town when the saddle comes in I'll be pissed since it needs to be flocked (stuffing the panels under the saddle to fit the horse)with me there.

Hen is coming home April 1 (Mary is bring him home for me since I will be out of town). While I'm thrilled with saving the board money and I know that he'll get turned out all day and he loves being home, I will say that I will miss having an indoor arena with mirrors to work in when it's crappy out. Hopefully now that we're getting into spring proper, the weather will be mild and I can ride outside with no problems. It's also a major plus to be back home because it's a HUGE pain in the ass to get my rig from home, schlep to the winter barn then go back past home to go to the Farmpark for practices. Then we do it all in reverse afterwards. HUGE, HUGE pain in the ass. I plan on still hauling into the winter barn for lessons this year. I want to try to keep up with 2 a month as I've really been making progress. Maybe that fall show might really happen. Who knows. We'll see if I can not only get good enough to be competitive but more importantly WANT to show. I was so burned out that it was making my stomach turn to think about it. It would be nice to get that competitive attitude back.

Performance Ride has been going well. We're down to a 6 horse ride (not surprised), so there have been some minor changes to the ride made. I also had to add 2 more moves yesterday to the end of the main ride. It was going to be about 6 minutes without it. It needs to be closer to 8. Judy will have to walk them through it on Monday since I'll be gone. I wish she could have been there yesterday when I wrote it to explain how it works. I'm sure she'll figure it out but it's easier to teach it to others when you have been there to see it being made.

I also ran Colour Guard practice last night since Phyll is out of town at a Ranger symposium. Took me a little while to figure out how to get a 8 horse ride down to a 6 horse ride with people ending up where they were supposed to (mainly the #1 horse, since they are the ones to carry the American Flag and it always has to be on the right at the front). Ended up running at speed 3x and it worked fine. Whew! We'll see who rides where at Horsefest though. That seems to always change at the last minute. Not my ride though, so not my call.

I leave tomorrow for Vermont with my Aunt. We're doing a Smithsonian Tour called "Vermont Foodies". I fly into Newark then have a 2.5 hour layover then into Burlington. While there we will hit a sugar house, cheddar cheese plant, Ben and Jerry's and some other Vermont fun food places. Smithsonian always runs a top notch tour, so I'm looking forward to it. The bonus thing is that they usually don't run a tour with less then 20 people. We have 9. Not sure why it wasn't canceled, but it means more individual time and more intimate tour. On the way home I fly back through Newark but I have an over 4 hour layover. UGH!! Guess I better find a book to take to kill time with. I'll have my laptop, so I guess I can play lots of majong if I need to. Sometimes you just can't get from point A to point B in a timely fashion.

I'm then home for 4 days then head to Baltimore for 6 days with the family for Passover. It's always good to see everyone. The flowers should all be bloomed (which is much better then here where things are just starting to think about coming up)so that will be a treat.

And that's all I know. Busy day today. I am meeting a friend that was in Florida showing Jumpers all winter, then going to the barn to ride Hen and take all my stuff back to the other barn. Then I have to get packed since I've done nothing to be prepared. I guess I'd make a crappy Boy Scout!!

Have a great week(s) everyone!!
