Domesday time!! I sent out reminders that a DOMESDAY report needed to be in my email box no later then December 1. Now, a Domesday report is a recap of ALL your activity of the year, not just what you've done in the last quarter (otherwise it would be called a "quarterly report"- duh!). Now how many Domesday reports do you think I got? Four if you include mine. I guess I should be happy- that's almost half. I also got one quarterly. And that's it. I'm still missing four reports. I guess I'm a bit cheesed because I have to pull a Domesday Report out of my ass, piecing things together from my quarterly reports instead of reading them off of the marshals reports. You bet you ass that I made a note of who didn't bother to report. I realize that it's the holidays (hence why I sent out a reminder over two weeks before they were due) and I also realize that my marshals are volunteers. HOWEVER, when you make a commitment it doesn't matter if you are paid or it's just a hobby. People rely on others to make things happen. So if you tell someone that you agree to do things you need to do it!! Seriously, I'm a volunteer as well for two major organizations. If I don't fill in my log sheets for my mounted unit BY the first of the month I loose those hours that I put in. Tough shit, no exceptions. Then I get the fun of trying to make up the hours I lost by doing double the work the following month.
UGH!!!!!! I don't want to hear that your third cousin was sick or that you needed new spark plugs or your computer's mouse wasn't working. I WANT YOUR REPORT. If your computer is down, then you can hunt down a piece of paper and send it to me the 'old fashioned way' or go to a friends house and send it from there. I don't want to hear that you were out of town on the first- this is why I send you a reminder no less then two weeks out. I also remind you every spring when the dates are. Don't you think it might be a good idea to write those dates down somewhere where you'll see them and be a responsible adult and send me the report? If you know you're done for the year back in October, it's perfectly acceptable to SEND IT IN EARLY!!!
All I can say is my report goes out on time. If you can't be bothered to report on time then it's up to the Dean to deal with it. After all, you're messing up his report to the Earl Marshal. I'll be happy to tell you that I've sent in my report and now you have to report to the Dean and explain why 2 weeks wasn't enough time to do a 5 minute report to the regional.
