Hello all,
I have been a fan of the show since it first aired, and was pleased to find this community! Now, on to the questions:
1) How did you first discover Moonlighting?
I was a sophomore in high school, and rabid for Glenn Caron's other series, Remington Steele, when Moonlighting first caught my eye. I can't remember if I saw the pilot; most likely, I started watching a few episodes in, and was hooked from that moment on. A few years ago, I rediscovered the series on DVD, and my renewed passion for it led me to davidandmaddie.com and Virtual Moonlighting...and also inspired my first foray into fiction writing, some of which I hope to share here.
2) What is your favourite episode and why?
Oh, boy...that's a toughie. At least ten episodes jump into my head when I think of my "favorite"...but if I could only ever watch one, I guess maybe I'd pick "Maddie's Turn to Cry." The reflection of the case with Maddie and David's relationship, common throughout seasons two and three, comes to a poignant point here, and I love Maddie's softness in this episode. Her conflict, between desire and duty, between the heart and the head, is played out beautifully; nowhere better than in the famous "trunk scene" in David's living room.
3) Which character do you relate to the most?
I'd have to say Maddie. I love David, love his spontaneity, his passion for life...but I empathize with Maddie's sense of responsibility, her practicality, and even her bewilderment when faced with her overwhelming feelings for David.
4) What is your favourite scene/quote from the series?
I truly can't pick a favorite, so here is one scene, and one quote, from my top ten:
Scene: Maddie and David in the car (the first time) in "To Heiress Human." David lists all of the things he'd like to do...and Maddie capitulates. Her "David, David, David!" expresses everything to me--all of the passion she's trying to keep a lid on comes pouring out.
Quote: From "In God We Strongly Suspect"--
Maddie: I don't want you losing any more sleep over me.
David: Believe me, if and when I ever find myself 'over' you, the last thing I'll be thinking about is sleeping.
5) How did you find this community?
Just searched "Interests" on the LJ home page.
