“I am not on the top of the world! I want to be up there with them! I am not even close to the top! I am in the MIDDLE of the world!”
This is what I heard hurling from the lungs of a discontented little girl visiting the park with her 2 brothers and mother. The two older brothers had ventured up further, climbing one of the rocks. When this girl attempted to follow, her mother stopped her insisting that she not go any higher. This is when she yelled this telling sentence. She felt stifled, not trusted, and just plain left out. She thought she was ready to take on those rocks with her brother that loomed overhead. But her wise mother knew she was not ready.
Do we feel like this in life sometimes? We are ready to take on the world? But God knows we are not really ready? He tells us as children, wait here. I had much to teach you where you are. Do not jump too fast. You need to grow first. Only when you get stronger are you ready for the “top of the world.” Until then, be content here at the “middle of the world.” There is much here for you if you are willing to be on the watch for it. As humans we see our focus and our goal. We stretch, reach and strive for the goal. What we view with utmost importance. But God, he values things differently. Where goals are important and good, the process to achieving the goal is first priority in Gods eyes. Are we becoming what we need to become rather than just achieving what we need to achieve? We probably could be used more quickly and fully if we viewed everything in this way. If we took every opportunity to learn and not just do.
