[ Sometime while Light is moping on the couch, Aerith is going to sit on part of it. She is also going to start distracting the tortoise with bits of lettuce, placing them out in a little trail to get it moving along the floor. It's cute to watch, okay. ]

[ And Lightning just watches, after a minute or two pulling her knees up to her chest and folding arms up over and around them. Face remains as serious as ever, though. ]

... What are you trying to do?

[ Well okay, she can sort of tell already... but why? ]

[ 1: getting Light to stop moping so much. And hey, if she is paying more attention to Aerith and tortoise antics, it's at least a partial success?

2: ]

Training him for a race with a hare.

[ ... No that's not it, she's just messin' with Light. It's really that the guy needs to eat anyway and this is an entertaining way to do it she would love those silly pointless youtube clips of pets. ]

I doubt that one's going to be winning races any time soon.

[ Nope, apparently she doesn't get the reference-- or rather, even if she did... she's Lightning. With as slow as that thing's plodding along? Maybe if Aerith put him up against a plant or something... ]

You never know, he could be a late bloomer.

What are you expecting? It to suddenly grow a flight stabilizer?

[ She shakes her head. Nothing in the library mentioned tortoises having AMP technology tucked away in their shells, so she's really not buying it. ]

What we should be doing is figuring out what we're going to do with it.

Vrooooom~ [ She makes a flight motion with her hand. ] Stranger things have happened. You don't want to keep your laundry assistant?

Poor Barry.

Hmmm...Baldr gets really worked up around him, so maybe he needs to go somewhere else? Not outside, though. It'll be winter soon! [ and they can't be cold-hearted to the cold-blooded little guy... ]

'Barry?' [ Fffwhat. Lightning unfolds an arm to rub at the nape of her neck, expression tightening. ] I don't care where it goes. Just as long as it stays out of my clothes.

[ This is a perfectly valid name, okay

she could have gone to flowers again. ]

Since he's so slow, that'll be absolutely no trouble at all, right? If he's in my room you'll have a head start on keeping them tortoise-free.

[ Yes, she got it right. ...Mostly because of Light BUT ANYWAY ]

-- You want to keep it?

[ Okay that's not exactly what Aerith said, but. That's how Lightning's read into it. ]

I definitely don't want him out in the snow! I like him, even if he's a little bit of a rascal.

[ She--very gently--pats the tortoise's head. He goes back to nibbling lettuce. It is a beautiful one-sided friendship. ]

Yeah. Somehow you managed to find an animal that might as well be a plant too, for all the movement it does.

[ She rolls her eyes, hard. Obviously her shepherd dog is at least thirteen times better! ]

Anyway, have you seen anything weird in your journal too, lately?
