The Winds of Change

The house seems empty which is not a bad thing. It gives me time to think and contemplate things. No, we didn't separate before any of you panic and start texting me and overloading my poor phone. JP is at work and I have the day off. It was about three months that he was unemployed so it is nice to have a second paycheck coming in again.

As to the winds of change, that would be primarily work. Back on July 12th, my boss who has been at the hotel for 3.5 years announced without warning that he was resigning. Now, he was very good at it by giving them 4 weeks notice. I after a bit of soul searching applied for his job. I interviewed but because of comments made by certain people I was fairly certain that I wasn't going to it.

After 5 more weeks, (and them re-advertising the job 3 more times) I finally find out that I am not going to get it. They feel that they want a person who has been a Front Office Manager in other properties for at least 2 years instead of my 12 years of management experience. Having already figured out that it wasn't going to happen, I was not that all upset. However the most amazing thing has happened. Everyone I have told at work about it has had emotions ranging from mild distress to outright anger at the company. The primary reason I did go for the job is that the staff asked me to. Eight people told me on my staff that they wanted me as their boss and didn't want an outsider to come in.

So, I am contemplating leaving at this point. I mean in all honesty my career growth at the hotel is effectively over. Outside of padding my resume with time, it isn't doing much.

Thoughts and ramblings?
