Lion-O had found himself trusting easily, since arriving on Coruscant. And, if he were to really think about it, he'd admit this was his usual nature. Before Grune's betrayal, which had destroyed his kingdom, and led to his father's death at the hands of their ancient enemy, Mumm-Ra, Lion-O hadn't doubted others at all. His decisions to trust Dogs, Lizards, Fishmen, and Petalars had all paid off. Lion-O had only ever truly been hurt by other Cats. Mumm-Ra's attacks caused pain; it felt like they went right through to his spirit, but it wasn't at all like the wounds inflicted by his own species.

Now, Lion-O was quick to trust the humans. They looked not unlike some of Third Earth's beings: those who weren't obviously descendants of animals from Mumm-Ra's space ship. The humans just looked...somewhat more average. And, quite a number of them knew of technology, which fascinated Lion-O completely. All his young life he'd dreamed of the legendary flying ships, and devices that seemed to do magical things. He'd seen the destructive power of technology the night Thundera fell to the Lizard Army with warbots and missiles supplied by Mumm-Ra.

But, he'd also been saved by technology that night, when his collection of 'junk', as Tygra called it, turned out to hold enough weapons to allow Lion-O to get through the besieged city to his father. As intensely painful as it had been to witness his death, Lion-O, if he would admit it, was thankful for that last moment when King Claudus finally declare how proud he was.

Technology, as other power, Lion-O was just beginning to understand, had to be respected, and used wisely. He didn't have the Eye of Thundera here, on Coruscant, or the ancient Cat smiths who had originally forged the Sword of Omens and Claw Shield for his ancestor Leo, or the enchanted alloys Mumm-Ra used. But, Lion-O was still a Thundercat. It was his duty to continue on, until he could rejoin the others. He could best do that, or at least do it with a quicker start, if he held familiar weapons.

Lion-O also had his knowledge of tech to help him, and the memory of that first forging, witnessed by Leo, granted him by the Book of Omens. He could make something close to the Claw Shield, if not truly as enchanted. He'd come a long way already, making good use of his trusting nature and rapport with the droids and technicians at the merchant's warehouse, to obtain parts and scraped metal. He'd drafted numerous sketches on transparent sheets, which he found he preferred now, over paper, for how easily light passed through stacked layers, like seeing through the casing of a machine to its internal workings.

The replica already had many of it's internal triggers, actuators, and various small springs and gears that would give its claws independent motion, or activate grappling lines. But, the exterior- There was no exterior casing, decorative or otherwise. Not that Lion-O wished others to know, but Hattanzo had sent him out of the forge, when he tried to make his own sword. Lion-O didn't have the skill for working raw metal, that he did with assembling parts or repairing mechanical devices.

But, Ed claimed to have worked with metal! So, Lion-O was trusting he could help him complete the replica. In preparation, he had laid out on available surfaces all the diagrams, tools, parts, and raw materials available to him.
