(
In a way it reminded him of the human phrase, crushing two birds with one stone. )
And it still wasn't as bad as -- [Garrus cuts himself off, abruptly. The Omega 4 relay and everything beyond had been terrifying, but they had all survived. Everyone had come back whole, even Shepard, and for that Garrus was glad. He wasn't sure she could take another Virmire.]
[But back to business. Garrus grows serious, fingering his rifle to make sure it wasn't going to do something stupid like jam on him before he stepped out of the alley and crossed the open, deserted courtyard.] I read you. Radio silence from here on out unless there's an emergency.
[He makes it to the open entryway without incident, glancing inside from around the doorframe. He sights the lone figure, once again cursing the loss of his visor. He had no way of reading other heat signatures in the building, so he had to trust his eyes. He sneaks inside, hugging the wall.]

[He pauses like he has more to say but stops, whatever bizarre frog preachy backup he might have been brewing falling away now that the mission was taking center stage.] Affirmative. [He answers, slinking closer and dropping down some to get a better view of the area. There was something amiss, any could figure as much from even the beginnings of this shady business, but he was uncertain what or where it would strike.]

But they were all soldiers first. While Garrus wouldn't mind picking up this conversation later-- no, scratch that, he hoped Thane would forget about it although he doubted the drell memory would ever grant him that wish-- they had business to attend to.
Business that felt wrong. Who the hell met armed strangers with information on terrorist attacks alone? In the dark? In an abandoned warehouse?
Although Garrus figured he was past due for a routine backstabbing. And if they got to take down a couple of thugs in the meanwhile, well, that would just make his whole day.
Still, there was no evidence of anything or anyone else nearby. He steps away from the wall slowly, making his way to the solitary figure, who jumps at his appearance before waving him over. He hoped Thane's eyes were good enough to catch anything that might explode in his face before it did.]

Thane watched the figure a moment, assessing the situation. He was harmless, everything in the man's body language told the story. He was unarmed, that much was fairly clear, hunched as if he was expecting something. The question was if it was fear of Garrus or anticipation.
Thane's head shot up when he heard a distinct sort of click in the rafters nearby.] Above- [He warns into the radio before quickly moving to the figure aiming the gun at Garrus's head. He snaps the man's neck with a firm grasp and shift of his head, picking up the gun as others began to move in to the action. He kicked one of the men off the rafters, turning to check Garrus's position.]
[ooc; I honestly can't remember what the exact game plan was here so if anything needs changing please plurk me :|b ]

[Garrus is expecting the creepier option tbh. But he's going to focus on, you know, not getting shot right now because the second he walked into the light there was an itch between his shoulder blades. Something familiar and unwanted and warning him that things were about to--]
Fuck. [He hears Thane's warning, just before everything starts going to hell. Men with guns appear all around him to block off the exits, and the supposed contact shrieks and dives down to hide behind his flimsy table, while Garrus works out a much better plan of action. Moving and unclipping his gun at the same time, he begins a quick retreat as gunshots pepper his footsteps. Fuck!] I need cover!
[And suddenly there is a body falling from the rafters. Conveniently, it shocks the men it falls near into halting their fire, and Garrus takes advantage of the distraction to shoot and run, breaking through the circle of enemies to find cover behind large cargo boxes.]

[Thane immediately begins sniping those with the clearest shots of Garrus, slinking through the rafters as quickly as he could to take down as many men as he could. Unfortunately there was still another man up there with him, forcing him to waste a few moments dodging a shot then dispatching the attacker before he can focus on covering Garrus.]
Your left- [He warns, trying to cover for Garrus's blindspot behind the cargo. He shoots another before swooping to pick up the gun of the man he just killed, discarding the empty, first gun and continuing fire with the second.]

[Garrus hunches down behind the crates, knowing it's only a temporary cover. If the others have even half a brain of strategy between them, they'll try to flank him-- something all too easily done in this haphazard maze of crates. Something like a sledgehammer hits his armor on the left, and Garrus curses and lets his back hit the containers, firing a shot at the attacker that had sprung up on his left. The man goes down with a new hole blooming where his eye once was; at this range, Garrus could probably keep both eyes closed and not lose any accuracy.] Thanks. [He glances up, but he was no help to Thane down here; the rafters were nothing more than a mess of darkness.
Right. Need to keep moving. He fires wildly around the right side of the crate, keeping his head low and drawing their attention, and when the clip runs out he spins and dives to the left, rolling out of cover while they're still focused on the wrong side. He darts towards the back wall, taking shelter behind another stack of crates farther along.] Why can't we ever get a nice ambush?

[With that he jumps down from the rafters, proceeding to put his assassin training to good use by snapping a man's neck and using his body to throw another off balance. He uses the momentary distraction to shot the fallen man in the head, quickly shooting another of the now dwindling cluster in a fluid movement.
Unfortunately dodging the last of the group's frenzied attack puts him the line of supporting fire, a blast grazing his arm and leaving a nasty burn in it's wake. Coruscant needed to get shielding technology going B(
He shoots the last of the group and ducks behind some cargo, focusing on the radio again.]I'm on the east side, below the machinery. [Garrus was the squad leader type here, Thane had seen enough of his leading abilities to treat him as such and follow his lead.]

Garrus pulls his gun up for a moment, trying to track Thane's movements. It's still odd, getting used to not having heatsinks; it threw off his balance of aim, shoot, reload.
It had only been a matter of minutes-- perhaps even less-- but already they had taken out a large chunk of the enemy forces between the two of them. Armed and dangerous as these men were, they were not seasoned soldiers and they were severely outclassed by those they sought to take down.
And as the return fire dimmed, they seemed to be beginning to realize it.
Garrus assesses the situation a moment.] They're clustered near me, and there's another group coming in the south entrance. [Pause, peek through his sniper hole, reassess.] That's our exit. I'll draw their fire; you work on getting behind them. Once they're out of the way, I'll sweep around and follow you out. If you can find a way to drop machinery on their heads, do it. If not, do what you do best.

Understood. [He answers, moving as carefully as he can to another cluster of cargo. He regards the machinery a moment- a few well placed shots would be more than efficient in breaking the supports. He glances at the group coming in, hurrying again to a new cluster of cargo and trying to remain hidden.] Three seconds. [He informs Garrus, easing around the cargo before raising his gun to shoot at the supports.]
[There's a split second before the metal comes crashing down on a good deal of the entering group, the shock of the machinery's sudden fall giving Thane the opening he needed to rush what was left of the group, taking them out without wasting another shot.]

[Garrus slips out of cover for a moment, trading his sniper rifle for his assault rifle instead. Easier for a spread of fire, something constant to keep the enemy entertained as Thane snuck behind them. Garrus manages to plant enough bullets in one's chest to drop him, but the return fire is heavy, and a ricochet snaps fire across his temple before he pulls back.
His new armor was getting quite the workout. He was pretty sure he was bruised underneath in several places, and he works on keeping hot blue blood out of his eye as gunfire hammers the crates he takes cover behind.
Thane's voice comes across the radio, loud and clear. Three seconds. Garrus counts under his breath, and, right on the dot, he hears the crashing thunder and subsequent screaming. In the mess of disarray, he abandons his cover in an all-out sprint to get by the mess of broken equipment and bodies.]

Out of the exit he heads to the side, surveying the area first for more trouble with his gun drawn before looking to Garrus.] We may try to track down the man they used as bait, though it is unlikely any knowledge he has will be of use. [He offers, waiting for Garrus's thoughts on the matter.]
Reply
He just shakes his head, blood still riled up, angrier now that there was nothing to shoot at for the moment.] He was just a pawn. We can worry about tracking him down later, but I doubt he knew anything. [He risks a brief glance back at the warehouse as they make their escape, part of him insisting they go back right now and finish the job. He didn't like retreating. It had it's place, but he didn't like it.]

It was clear people were starting to gather to the location. Thane lifts his gun, ready to take care of the new threat if they got too close when his eyes are drawn to the car still hovering slightly. He regards it a moment before looking at Garrus, curious to see if the man was thinking what he was about this particular opportunity.]

[A pause, and Garrus regards the odd-colored blood trailed down the arm Thane isn't favoring.] How's the arm?

It will require minimal aid. [and he looks at that turian blood] Yourself?
