[Anya comes carrying all her stuff on a repulsor lift dolly cause that's what happens when your mun's just read a ton of Star Wars books. You suddenly get to use things with cool Star Wars names that make lifting shit easier. Anyway, she's got a few boxes since she's already moved her furniture earlier in the day. She brings it up to the apartment and towards the room she has claimed as her own.]

Hey there, box lady. Need a hand with the lifting of heavy things? [ A beat. ] Or ... things in general.

[Anya nods vigorously and pushes the dolly towards her.] Yes, the boxes on this are heavy, and you have superstrength. Help me unload it!

[ Oh. This went from helping to doing for her pretty fast. Buffy's expression deflates as she takes one of the boxes as the dolly is shoved at her. ]

I'm beginning to think maybe we should have a conversation about the meaning of the word "please." [ Still, there's a wry smile there and she turns to carry the box into Anya's room. ]

I don't have superpowers. It makes sense for you to do the heavy lifting. I can manage the money parts. You aren't any good at that. [Though she did somehow manage not to lose the house. But Anya figures she probably shouldn't make Buffy do all of it even if that seems to be a fair devision of labor. So she grabs a (smaller) box as well.]

I know the meaning of the word please. It just seems like an unnecessary word added to sentences simply for the sake of being polite.

[ The corners of Buffy's mouth twitch at the remark, and she just blinks it off and turns to set the box down and go grab more. ]

This should be fun. [ It's said in a pseudo-dreading way, and mostly refers to the whole living with Anya in general thing. Oh boy. ] Have you ever considered going into tax collecting? Because I'm beginning to get the feeling you'd be seriously good at it.

Of course not. Taxes are overly high and socialist. We should do things for ourselves, not pay the government to do things.

[She puts down her box as well, then opens both of them and starts unpacking.]

[ And Buffy's off to get more boxes, talking all the while. ]

Okay, not tax-collector. Banker? Accountant? Financial advisor?

I've considered it. [This box has clothes in it! Anya starts putting them away in her closet.] Being paid for advice is sort of like free money.

Paid for advice ... Hey, I could do that! I mean, not the financial part, but the advice thing! Maybe that's what I'll do when we get back. I could, y'know. Hold seminars and tell people how to ... not die. When getting attacked by vampires. [ She looks very proud of this horrible idea. It's better than charging for slaying, okay. ]

I've always thought you should just charge for slaying. It's a valuable service that only you can supply. You could make a fortune.

... [ deadeyes. ] You can't charge people for saving their lives. It's not like "here, let me make your bad day where your life was in danger and you just realized monsters are real even worse and stick you with a bill!" It doesn't work like that. It's -- No. World of no.

[Breezily:] Yes, yes, so everybody says whenever I bring it up... blah, blah, blah. [She still thinks it's stupid.] But Watchers get paid, don't they? And there are far fewer qualifications for watching than for slaying. Everybody has working eyeballs. [A pause while she considers how that isn't true.] Well, many people do, anyway.

You know, that's a good point. You'd think if the Watcher's Council were really that invested in having a Slayer, they'd at least pay her and make sure she, y'know, stays alive and able to eat and sleep somewhere.

I've always said that. Maybe you should go on strike.

[ She deflates, looking pouty. ]

Kinda late for that. I already broke up with them, I think they've kinda given up on Team Buffy.
