Tonks arrived shortly after the time had been announced. She wasn't late, not really. She just had a difficulty getting there. It wasn't her fault that some of the droids were small and easily tripped over.

When she saw Kevin, she waved her hand and smiled. Tonks hurried over to him. "Wotcher Kevin!"

No, it definitely wouldn't be her fault.

Flynn greeted her with a quiet smile and a wave back. "Tonks." It sounded a little odd, right now - but it had been how she had introduced herself, so he figured it should be all right. "That is a very interesting hair color."

Then again, he'd lived in the eighties, he'd seen ... more attention-drawing ones.

Look, if someone had gifted you with a name like Nympahdora, you'd go by your surname as well. Don't even bring up the subject of her middle name, it's the worst of the two.

"Thanks, I used to be better at changing it but now it takes loads more concentration and deliberation." She could do it so that it wasn't just the blending of light or an illusion in someone's mind but it a bit exhausting.

No, he wouldn't ask. This was somebody used to people interacting exclusively with their online handles... or with their surnames. If Tonks she wanted to be, he wouldn't call her otherwise. And also, the names he gave tended to be pretty short. Sticking to three and four letters, whenever possible - Clu. Zuse. Gem.

Sam...

"You used to be better at changing your hair..." he repeated in surprise. "At will? Huh. Not that something like that should surprise me, considering that over there is a Jedi temple, and that's supposed to be fiction, but... still." His lips twitched. "I guess purple is a favorite color, then?"

"Oh, you've seen the movies too? Dad took me to see the lot when I was little. Didn't think it was real though, well, beyond trying to use a stick as a lightsaber. I used to get loads of splinters from them. I think I brok a vase or two, maybe four. Ahh, well." Tonks shrugged her shoulders.

"Oh, yeah. I'm a Metamorphmagus. It means I can change my appearance at will. Well, within reason." And she was just going to leave it at that. He didn't need to know that she couldn't do the bits as far as male anatomy went. "I can still do it but takes loads more concentration. I can't just mess around, shame though, I used to love doing impressions."

"Yeah. The last one came out the year my son was born." The last one that he knew about, at any rate. And no, he doesn't know about any of the books and such, they came out after he disappeared from the real world, too. "You should've found somebody to whittle the sticks. Make them all smooth and nice." Flynn took out Luna's lightsaber, turning it in his hands. "Doesn't quite much the real thing, but at least your hands are unhurt." Lips twitching. "And vases get broken, especially in a house with a kid. That's what happens."

The rest... well, he might have talked through the first part so he could process the latter one. "So, being here got in the way of what you can do... interesting. Much to learn about this place, it seems." He lifted his face to catch a bit of the sun, then looked around.

"Yeah, well, here I am still an adult I manage to break things." Tonks eyed the newly revealed lightsaber. "How'd you get that? Are you a Jedi?" She didn't think he was but she'd been wrong before.

"Yeah, see, I was, well am, a witch. Normally, I wouldn't be telling you this but, Ministry regulation and all but I don't see that it matters here. I can't really do magic anymore. Everything's Force related now so it's not completely bad."

"Maybe meditation and learning to still your mind will help with that... eventually." He was faintly amused at the thought. Then he shook his head. "No, I am not - I gather I am a little too old to learn, although some of the aspects... from what I can tell, I have acquired over time. This was left to me by a young friend of mine who took off to distant ends."

He carefully turned on the weapon, revealing the rainbow-colored beam, and his face softened at the thought of Luna. "I'm highly unlikely to use it, I think it's more for safekeeping."

And the last part... "Ah. That would... make some sense." And because his mind connected things. "And that is why you're not acquainted with programming as such."

Tonks was jealous of the rainbow blade. It looked pretty bloody wicked and put to shame her purple-hued blade. "Wow. And here I thought mine was a bit rarer. I could have picked a crystal for blue or green but purple's my favorite color. I just had to be difficult, you know?"

Sometimes the words that he spoke were completely and totally foreign to her. "Programming, oh that's what you call making the droids do what you want, right?"

"Luna's a very special young lady," Flynn said with a small, faint but warm, smile. "I hope that what she seeks out there... she finds." He turned off the light-saber and shrugged. "If I have somebody adept with the Force working with me, so that I don't screw something up out of that kind of ignorance, I can probably figure out how it was done." It was true, really. But since it was a Jedi weapon, he was loath to take it apart when he wasn't sure he could properly put it together again, on account of the presence of forces that he didn't know enough about ( ... )
