(
This is my work. It has many doors, but only one Tony Stark. )
Though the armor would probably look good with passion pink nails, I'm going to request that the manicure set stay away from my things.
[ And now you. ]
First of all, you need to give me time to respond to the things you say before you say twelve new things. I can't react in the correct order if I forget which things you said when and I don't want to be smiling at bad news.
[ A small pause as he pretends to think, taking a deep breath. ]
Okay. Zenned.
Some people take their work home with them, I take my home to work. Trust me, I'd be doing more hobby-related things if there were less work-related things on my plate. I have yet to see a vehicle worth fixing up yet otherwise I'd have a sweet new ride by now and probably a bigger fake smile for the next point.
[ Crap he forgot where to go next. Whatever, he's already over it. Have a fake smile, Elena! ]
Nice to meet you, you've got some interesting friends. [ Immediate subject change because he's going down a list. ] That's good news to hear about the draft, check another thing off my list and buy yourself some celebratory champagne and...
What was next? LifeDay?
No. Let me know when it's Christmas.
[ And he thinks he's covered everything! ]

You get used to it after a while. Your brain will eventually get a Caroline filter that will sift out all the important things and allow you to answer more easily.
[and then there's a smile]
And it's nice to meet you too.

Actually, speaking of champagne, I was thinking since you're here - when you shouldn't be - that I can pull you away from here for a bit and you can come have a drink with us. It's nothing where I'll drink you under the table. I promise, but Elena wanted to know what I did here and this is the last stop on the tour.
[She looks at him expectantly.] You know you'll have fun, plus, it'll be a small, but very well-deserved, break.

He waits for Caroline to finish speaking before turning to Elena. ]
I'll have to work on that filter for the next time I'm breaking a rule I never put into place. I mean, she told you that I was the boss, right?
[ And oh look, there's Caroline! Don't worry, he knew you were there. Tony had reached a good spot for a break and turns fully away from what he was working on. ]
You really know how to twist my arm, Miss. Forbes. [ There is a brief pause and he looks at Elena. ] I want to make sure you're taking "drinking me under the table" with a grain of salt. It didn't happen quite like that and I was running on very little sleep that day.
...you wouldn't be able to do that right? Are you even old enough to drink? Good god, no one has birthdays here but me.

I'm sure you weren't at your best. Completely understandable.

Tony's clued in on my advantages when it comes to drinking. At the time... not so much. He deserves a rematch. [She grins at him.]
So, we're going right? The bar up the way, right?

Exhausted. Absolutely and utterly ready for bed at the time. I was also outnumbered. [ Though at the mention of him "not knowing at the time", he nods at Elena. The truth is out.
Though he stands up because hellz yeah he's going despite anything else he might say. ]
A rematch? Maybe I should just slap my liver down on the table now because you know I can't back down now. Duty as a man and your boss. I never stood a chance.
[ His life is so hard. ]

He could always just take me on? I might be a bit more his speed.

Honestly, some drinks and a good night out is exactly what they all need.]
I can always handicap myself and go with three to every one. [She makes the offer as she starts for the door. Come along, to the bar they shall go!]
