Dinner and Fruit-Flavoured Beer!

So, after much discussion with mitchy, we have decided that Belgos must happen. Therefore, we are arranging a meet-up on the 19th November (that would be a week Saturday, ladies and gents). She'll be mentioning the same thing on her LJ, so ... y'know, be there or be a four-sided thing ( Read more... )

I love Rogues on DAII. What build you doing.

Mine was an Archer with Subtlty/Shadow/Assassin and about half of Archery.

Almost all of Dual Weapon, bit of Subtlety, Assasin/Shadow specialities (currently nearing the end of Act 2). I would never bother with Archery because that would mean I didn't need to have Varric in party, and I like having Varric in party. Plus Bianca is better than any old random bow. :P

I did Archery I had Varric in the party all the damn time. ;) Bianca is cool, but man I would not trade her for Hood's Message to the King. I just need to make Hood's Message to the King look like the Antivan Adder.

But either way works. Being used to Mage, duel wield was probably more of a different game for you, which makes sense. If you are looking for something different, DW is much more of a different game then "kill em from a distance".

The first time I played through the Arishok got taken out by blowing up my dummy. It made me happy inside.

I admit it - I didn't one-on-one the Arishok this time. I figure, "Fuck it; he stomps into my city, gets what he needs to be allowed to leave, and then expects me to play by his terms? Nah; the whole sorry lot of them die". Not that I've never duelled the Arishok, but ... meh.

You had two Archers in party? That never works for me. Two mages? Sometimes, depending on the other two party members. Two rogues? Sure, so long as one's dual-wield. Two archers, depending on the other two party members, just seems like not enough melee potential.

I ate at Belgo's the first time I was in London, and it was yummy. Enjoy!

I admit, my favourite ploy is to get Tempest as soon as possible and annihiliate foes that way. Plus being a Force mage rocks beyond the telling of it, but it's a MC-only ability tree. (At least the Panacea branch of Anders' Justice ability tree does most of the stuff Spirit Healer does...) Still, at least I know there's fun to be had outside of the Mage class. I think it took me longer to figure that out for DA2 than I did for Origins because it's not like the origin story changes. Though it's heartbreaking making that end Act 1 decision: it's either let Bethany get taken by the Templars, let her die, or take two mages - and with Varric locked into that last slot, you end up with a Rogue tanking. Which is rarely if ever good. (Though I got good results from a Rogue!Warden/Sigrun/Nathaniel/Anders team when playing Awakening...)
