Wacky Profs
Today in my philosophy of language class, we were talking about speech acts, and to illustrate one of the points that he was trying to make, my professor used the example of an insult. However, the example of an insult that he gave was perhaps the worst ever. This is a direct quote: "Say, for example, that you went to Papua New Guinea and told a native person "You speak as if your brain is full of maggots." That person probably would not appreciate that."
