No more Rhode Island for me. It's Brooklyn from now on, starting tonight!
I tried to go down and walk through the Van Wickle gates yesterday. It's a convocation - commencement tradition. You symbolically walk through the gates into Brown's campus when you get here your first year, and symbolically walk out of them when you graduate, releasing you back into the world. They're only open on those two occasions. What with me having surgery and being wicked tired, I didn't walk through at commencement. So I went yesterday to go and see if they were potentially still open and if I could walk though.
They were GONE.
They'd been removed for restoration. I think it's a sign. They're gone. I should be too.
