I am noticing an upsetting trend in media aside from the continued use of the term "hearing-impaired." The media specifically points out that the deaf people they are interviewing are speaking through interpreters, as noted in the first article. I think this is a relatively obvious and relatively insignificant fact and it bears with its presence the feeling of patronization of the deaf, I feel, though I do leave open room for debate on the issue. - TS

- Protesters: Deaf need interpreters with doctor -
The doctor in this article refused to sign an agreement to provide interpreters, but the article's exposition is vague in as far as what the agreement concerns and who is suggesting it. The author implies that the real issue at hand is the ADA's regulations governing small businesses that may not be able to afford to provide services to deaf/hoh. - TS

- Deaf Talkabout: Pluses and minuses to medical cure for deafness -
Bob McCullough is deaf and writes about some aspects of deafness that are not discussed in the media mainly because of the obvious lack of cultural involvement most reporters have. His message: What does the future hold for Deaf when hereditary deafness and other deafness-causing diseases are preventable? - TS
