Here are my picks for the top songs of 2008 (some were technically 2007 but received significant airplay in 2008).

2008

  1. That’s What You Get
    Paramore
Despite the upbeat rock music, this isn’t exactly a happy song (or video, for that matter).
  2. Should’ve Said No
    Taylor Swift
Hell hath no fury like a teenage singer/songwriter scorned. And no, I have no idea what that has to do with a waterfall.
  3. If I Never See Your Face Again
    Maroon 5 featuring Rihanna
Rhianna seems to have been a good choice for the remixed version of this song.
  4. Lost!
    Coldplay
Mind you, I’m a Coldplay fan, but did anyone else find their defense weak? “We respectfully ask him to accept our assurances of this and wish him well with all future endeavors.”
  5. I Kissed A Girl
    Katy Perry
Speaking from a stereotypical point of view, I’m sure her boyfriend didn’t mind.
  6. Love Song (2007)
    Sara Bareilles
One of those that came out in 2007, but I missed. So I'm putting it here.
  7. Stop and Stare
    OneRepublic
  8. Cath...
    Death Cab for Cutie
  9. Disturbia
    Rhianna
    Good song. Scary video.
  10. Better In Time
    Leona Lewis
  11. Gotta Be Somebody
    Nickelback
  12. I Don’t Care
    Fall Out Boy
  13. Bleeding Love (2007)
    Leona Lewis
  14. Love Like This
    Natasha Bedingfield featuring Sean Kingston
  15. It’s Not My Time
    3 Doors Down
  16. In Love With A Girl
    Gavin DeGraw
Who knew the mall could be so exciting you’d want to stay after work?
  17. Love Lockdown
    Kanye West
Kanye West + controversy? Who'dve thunk it?
  18. Over You (2007)
    Daughtry
  19. Realize
    Colbie Caillat
  20. Viva la Vida
    Coldplay

  21. Part 2:
  22. Goodnight Goodnight
    Maroon 5
  23. I Will Possess Your Heart (Radio Edit)
    Death Cab for Cutie
  24. Pumpkin Soup
    Kate Nash
  25. Hot N Cold
    Katy Perry
Apparently I’m easily amused (though this was my favorite song on the album).
  26. See You Again (2007)
    Miley Cyrus
    Really easily amused.
  27. Love Story
    Taylor Swift
Something tells me Ms. Swift never read The Scarlett Letter. Or Romeo and Juliet, for that matter.
  28. Little Miss Obsessive
    Ashlee Simpson-Wentz
  29. Sober
    Pink
I’m usually not a Pink fan, but I like this one.
  30. I Hate This Part
    The Pussycat Dolls
  31. Keeps Getting Better
    Christina Aguilera
  32. Circus
    Britney Spears
We’re back to the days of Britney vs. Christina. I’d take Christina though. While Circus was a decent comeback for Britney, it’s not much different from her first albums. Christina, on the other hand, has arguably expanded from her early days.
  33. In This Life
    Delta Goodrem
  34. Single Ladies
    Beyonce
  35. Pocketful of Sunshine
    Natasha Bedingfield
  36. Chasing Pavements
    Adele
  37. I’m Yours
    Jason Mraz
  38. Teardrops On My Guitar (2007)
    Taylor Swift
  39. Won’t Go Home Without You (2007)
    Maroon 5
  40. Untouched
    The Veronicas
  41. Second Chance
    Shinedown

  42. Consider the following filler for Finetunes' 45 song minimum:
  43. Just Dance
    Lady Gaga
  44. Mercy
    Duffy
  45. Say (2007)
    John Mayer
  46. Break The Ice
    Britney Spears

  47. This is one of the more original videos I've seen this year.
  48. The Show
    Lenka
