Bugle Reporter Witness to Midtown Jewelry Store Heist
by Belle Delaunay
After receiving a tip in the mail, your faithful reporter thought only that she might be meeting an informant, one of that underclass of people who, bereft of church or confessional, unburden themselves to the press under protection as a source and so find their restless spirits eased. Little did I imagine that at the appointed place and time, I would instead be witness to a crime before my very eyes!
The time was dusk, just as the sun dipped low in the sky, empurpling the clouds. Mr. Alfonso Ianelli, the owner of Ianelli Jewelry, was closing down shop for the evening when three figures, one smaller than his broad-shouldered partners, burst onto the scene. The criminals took pains to disguise their identities, styling themselves in masks, hats, and high collars. [ Further details of what Belle witnessed would go here, such as if any gunshots were fired or any struggle ensued; this is all dependent on what occurs in
the log ]
The thieves made away with over five hundred dollars worth of loot, including diamond earrings valued at nearly one hundred dollars and all of the money at the till. The whole affair seemed to pass in the blink of an eye, but to Mr. Ianelli, those few dozen minutes represent a tremendous loss. All the same, he remains determined not to stew in his ill fortune.
"It could have been worse," says Mr. Ianelli, whose insurance will cover the cost of replacing his glass storefront windows and door, but who must find a way to replace his stolen inventory. "But I'll be hiring guards after this."
Though the police remain tight-lipped about their investigation's progress, the NYPD encourages anyone with information that may assist in the apprehension of the robbers to contact the 18th Precinct Headquarters at (212) 555-5555.
