You know, it’s not everyday a girl finds a random journal shoved in her stuff. I’m not entirely sure why I’m even using it, and not throwing it out, other than hey. Free book! I mean, I’m not exactly journal-girl here, but I don’t see how this little thing can do any harm either ( Read more... )

Welcome to New York! I'm Conner, what's your name?

Where's Sunnydale?

Thanks... Is it a good thing or a bad thing when your journal welcomes you to the city? Because- I'm thinking it's a sign of crazy.

It's in California, right off the coast. Some of the best beaches without the crowds you get anywhere else.

I'm not your journal. I'm a guy. I told you, my name's Conner. I live in New York too.

Oh, wow, that sounds awesome. I've always wanted to go there. Well, Hawaii more than California, but it'd still be great there. I bet you can go surfing, right?

Not so much with the surfing. I'm more the type to go sun tan. Maybe swim a little, but- I'm no good on a board.

Okay. I'll bite. You're Conner, writing in my magic journal. What, do they hand out these things coming into New York?

It's not like everyone gets them. And I'd already been in New York a while when I got mine. No one knows why any of it happens, or how.

That sounds like fun too. I love being in the sun, you know? Makes me feel all strong.

What's your name?

So only the special kids get them. Got it. I guess I'll just- accept it? Be glad? After all, it's kind of lonely, moving to a new town by yourself.

Buffy Summers, at your service. The sun was nice there, but- not so much of a nice place. A few good people, but I wouldn't recommend walking down the street alone after dark.

I wouldn't be scared. I'm really tough.

Hey, if you want someone to show you around or something, I'd do it. I don't work on Sunday, so unless you're going to church or something, I could do it.

I bet you say that to all the new girls. Big manly exterior, tough, you'll protect them! It's- nice.

Nope. No plans on going to church here. Not really a church girl. So I'm totally free.

Only the ones with cute handwriting.

Great, me too. Wanna meet somewhere or something?

Oooh, I'll give you points for managing to flirt even through a book. Enough points to say yes.

Know anywhere nice for cheap?

There's a place called Angel's Diner that's pretty good. We could go there.
