[This handwriting is neatly disguised, blocky, and nothing like the "Arica" handwriting some are so used to. ]

I fail to see how an investigation is "dirty" work. But, yes, if it proves connected with organized crime, then I will indeed be involved.

Perhaps dirty isn't the right word. Does "hard" suit your tastes better? Although I suppose if you'll be doing some of the grunt work, at least that speaks on your committeemen.
