"Apartment? Room?" I offered up alternatives. It wasn't as if I'd ever walked Blue home from the shop or anything. I was a little curious as to where he'd been staying, if only because I wondered how big of a heart attack he was trying to give Iroh. I understood needing to leave home, run from it-- I'd done the same thing, countless times, leaving Liverpool, leaving London, leaving England-- but Iroh seemed like a good thing. A good set up. I didn't get the catch, the issue there.
Wasn't my issue to get, though, so there wasn't any use wondering about it too hard. It was better to worry about what I could work with, fix or alter, or even choose to ignore, than wondering what sort of path Blue was trying to walk.
I knew Blue would notice me talking to the officer. I'd been a bit obvious on purpose; I figured that while it did no good to worry Iroh over what needed to be done to get Blue out of jail, Blue should at least be aware that some arrangement had been reached. He was grateful already; but making him a bit more aware couldn't hurt either.
Somehow, I didn't think he'd go prattling on about under the table deals to his uncle.
I followed after Blue, noticing the slight frown that passed over his face for a minute. I shook my head with a sigh; of course there was something still wrong. Don't know why I was holding out hope that there wouldn't be.
"Don't suppose you've got yourself a second pair of shoes back where you're staying, do you?" I queried.
Fucking hell. I was starting to have an idea. And last thing I needed to do was stick out my neck anymore for this kid.
