Things have gotten better in the last week. After an exhausting weekend of home improvement projects, visiting in-laws and A's first cold, I reported to work on Monday completely depleted. But over the course of the week we've gotten most of the mess put away (everything was out of place for over a month due to the replacing all the doors/trim upstairs) and it just dawned on me that we're finally developing some sort of routine. This is comforting to after what felt like months of chaos.
So far the baby's life has been separated into 6 weeks blocks of time: the first 6 weeks between complete sleep deprivation and a hurricane, the second being the holidays and SAH boredom. The next 6 weeks was the return to work while my husband stayed home (which was surprisingly nice) and now we've just finished the fourth week of us both being back. I'm pleased to say that I can get all of us out of the house on time in the morning and somehow we manage to eat dinner, do chores, feed, play/bathe baby and still have some time to ourselves.
At five months, it feels almost manageable now.
