Savannah and Charleston Pictures: Charleston

Nov 10, 2007 12:42

I've finally resized the pictures from the trip we took to Charleston last month. There's a lot...including Jordan and Betsy chasing pigeons and Jordan climbing into a cannon.

IMAGE HEAVY

Betsy took this picture Thursday night in the car. I think it was about 9 o'clock.

Ahh, South Carolina landscapes.

Jordan reading a magazine on Friday.

Driving, with an additional Hula Girl.

More driving.

Trees!

A Piggy Wiggly truck! Piggly Wiggly is really popular in the upper South and Midwest. Sikeston has one, and in Kentucky...it's like an epidemic.

More of SC's glorious scenery.

A very large suspension bridge. This was my first time driving over one.

I just really like this picture.

City limits.

More driving on the bridge.

Charleston fire station.

Memorial site for those fire fighters who were killed in the fire at the furniture store in Charleston.

The only street in Charleston where dueling was legal.

A house in the French Quarter.

I spotted this and really liked the architecture.

The oldest liquor store in the South. Identified by the red dots.

Charleston's red-light district.

A cemetery outside a house.

Jordan at the original Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Betsy and her mom.

Betsy's 21st birthday! And the cute waiter in the green hat.

Betsy dancing outside.

We bought chocolate, and Jordan's face tells how good it was.

What is this?

The round church and graveyard. The designer said that the Devil could hide in corners, so he built a church without them.

Jordan touching a stone casket.

Cold Mountain was filmed in this street. JUDE LAW stepped on these stones.

"Don't even THINK about parking here."

Sad Jordan...the house tours were $12 a person and the house had a "floating" staircase.

Katie in Battery Park.

CHASE THE PIGEONS!!!!!!!!

A little boy and his friend also lied chasing the birds.

Jordan climbing into a replica of a Civil War cannon.

I was trying to be cool...like a pirate.

Katie texting Bill.

Jordan.

Betsy. I really like this photo, and I only took one, so I got really lucky that it turned out the way it did.

"Ugh...we're so tired."

"Ooh! Let me put on my red velor running suit and walk my big black dog in the park!"
A woman didn't have her dog on a leash, and she kept running around trying to get him to heel, calling his name every two minutes.

We found a playground.

Katie on the play thing. We weren't sure what it was for.

Jordan wasn't able to stop.

WHHEEE!

I love Katie's face.

OHMIGOD. The best piece of playground equipment ever. You sit and use your abdominal muscles to make you spin around.

Swings.

I'm pretty sure that road sign says "At. Adger's WHARF". Betsy and I have never seen a street sign that says wharf before.

The first Freemason temple in the United States.

We found a theatre!

I felt the need to do some photography before we left the city.

Me, Katie, and Jordan eating the best pizza second to Shakespeare's in Columbia, MO.

A guy in downtown Charleston in a bar playing his guitar. He had a good voice, too.

We were in a candy/pastry shop and bought cookies for our tour guide...because we're super cool.

Betsy looking at the yummies.

This was the jail that we visited for our ghost tour. Very confined. Very weird. But Jordan got her head stuck in the 100+ year old fence...

So...our tour guide, Lawrence, asked me to step forward and looped these ties around my wrists. I didn't volunteer at all. This is how they would keep prisoners tied up when they first got them to the prison.

Mrs. Zuefle, Katie, and Betsy in the jail.

In the far right window I could see something green with something like eyes when I zoomed in on my camera.

To end, we'll take a trip down Memory Wharf.
Remember these? You twist off the top and squeeze the Kool-Aid in your mouth. Squeeze-Its!
