My neice and nephew have been staying at my house this week so I haven't had much time to do anything, even schoolwork. They're good kids, but they fight a lot (although I don't know any 10 and 12 year olds that don't) and it just get really tiring. As most of you know I'm NOT a kids person, but i'm not really complaining this time.
My sister-in-law (their mother) had a stroke earlier this week ...a bad one. Her right side is paralyzed, she can't talk, feed herself or write. She knows who everyone is (she can identify her kids and other family members) but she confuses "yes" and"no" so the doctors think she may have some more serious neurological/memory damage. They're also not sure if she'll ever walk, talk or regain any movement or complex motor skills in her right side.
Ok so...this is tragic, yes. BUT it's her own god damn fucking fault and as family members, we can't help but think "You fucking idiot". She's had other less serious strokes before and the doctor told her that if she didn't stop smoking she would have another. She didn't....and now she's paralyzed. She has 2 kids and a grandchild that she cared for that she'll no longer be able to. My Brother now has to beome a father (something he's never done before becuase he's a douche) They're already dirt poor ...(my nephew didn't recieve a birthday present on Friday for his 10th birthday...but they can afford cigarettes and beer? fucking douches? I think so).
It's a really bad situation. My mother certainly will NOT take over the care of her 2 children..so my brother has to step up to the plate wether he likes it or not. I'm sympathetic of course, but only to a point. When you're a low class, dirty ass family with serious health problems you need to get off your ass, get a job, stop smoking, and give your kids a good bath.
My mother looks exhausted and I feel really bad that I can't be home more to take some of the attension off of her, but i have classes to attend. =/
