Oh ohh you should look at the academic catalogue online at the website! They have really interesting classes, and you can choose whatever you want, there are no Assigned Classes to Take freshman, sophomore, etc. years - no required classes, there's no Intro to University ;D class (one of the reasons why I went there ;D)..the requirements you have to fill before you graduate (outside of your major/minor/whatever, that is) are called "Perspectives" (oooh profound *rolls eyes*)..and they have.. I think there are 7 or 8 now. There's a History perspective, a Science perspective, a Comparative perspective, an Aesthetic perspective,... But you don't have to go with generic history, science, politics, art classes, like, they offer a lot of classes in every department that fill the perspectives. You could take a Music History class for your history perspective, a music theory class for your math perspective (they call it "formal analysis"..i took computer programming 101 to fill it), it's really cool. For my science perspective I want to take "Science of Weapons of Mass Destruction." If you're like me and hate science, you can take geography, or weather climate & landforms, or there's an astronomy class... ...they have a really cool academic program. It's in Worcester, MA, and there's a bus that can take you to the other..5, maybe 6...colleges in the immediate area, and it will take you to downtown worcester - i did that a lot last year - people say there's nothing to do here but they're lying, there's plenty to do with or without a car. there's public transportation everywhere, the buses go everywhere, blah blah. Also when I was looking at Clark people were saying that Worcester isn't a city (mostly New Yorkers say that :D) but that's not true either if you ask me, I definitely see Worcester as a city. It's a city, but it's not a city. ...Like, if you don't want a City Life, you can just stay on campus like you would if it weren't in a city(!). There are clubs, I've only seen a couple but I know there are lots and lots of clubs (lol), and there are concerts at Clark all the time - I usually don't go to them because they're Clark student bands or really obscure not-well-known bands who I don't like. Lots of college students volunteer in Worcester and there are all these Clark programs to help feed the homeless, be mentors, I think there's a YMCA, there's a Salvation Army rehab center(lol), ohh and there's MassPIRG, who annoy the hell out of me, but they go clean up ponds and clear trash and stuff like that, clean up the earth stuff.. There's plenty to do. I just..don't do a lot of it...because I'm lazy. *sigh*.

It took me awhile to figure out, but, the reason I loved Emerson so much was because of the "artist motif" I felt there, y'know?, the sense that everyone who went to Emerson was creative and artsy and, basically, JUSTLIKEME!, and that's really why I was so attracted to it.. But a lot of the majors at Emerson are for people who basically want to be starving artists. That is, they're really, REALLY passionate about "writing, literature & publishing" (I was going to go there for that), filmmaking, musical theatre, journalism, broadcast journalism, fashion design/theatre costuming design etc.,... I went to Accepted Students Day and that's what changed my mind ultimately, because the Emerson staff and students and even the prospective students all seemed, just..passionate..about these talents and pursuing them, and they are at Emerson to work on improving their craft, and they'd rather be self-fulfilled and happy than making a lot of money. And that's not what I want!, I want to be confident that I could, you know, eat (..to be blunt! =$) and support myself and be able to get a job... Plus there is no Music program at Emerson, the only Music-related programs they have are Musical Theatre programs. They have another new department, or, it was new when I last visited, 'Communication Sciences and Disorders' which I think studied handicapped/mentally retarded, etc. people, or if you want to be a special-ed aid or something. ANYWAYS - Clark is just as artsy as Emerson is. There are plenty of Emerson-like students there, it's got the artsy crowds too. There isn't much of a party scene, there are no frats or sororities or anything, kids from WPI used to come around to the freshman dorms and invite all the girls to parties at WPI.. My roommate seems to find parties somewhere, so I guess the Partaay Drink it Up CHugaLUG scene (LOL) is there if you want it, but you have to look for it. Which is just perfect, if you ask me, since I don't really want to go to beer bongs or anything, ugh. It's definitely a more intellectual, creative atmosphere. So if you want just a Generic, High School type college, you don't want to go to Clark ;D. ..or Emerson, for that matter. Damn this comment was long. You can ask me more if you want LOL.

yay! is clark high school-y, do you mean? oh no clark is nothing like high school, ugh i hated high school. heh. at my high school EVERYTHING was about sports-like, every.one. played sports, and all anyone talked about was sports, and there were only a handful of kids who didn't play sports (me, some other people lol).. at clark the sports stuff feels totally separate, like, it's there if you want it but you don't have to hear about it 24/7, i don't even know anyone who plays a sport. maybe it's like that at a lot of places, it probably is, i dunno, at the time i loved clark and emerson so i kind of blocked every other place out ;). but yeah, clark is noothing like my high school.
