I actually had to laugh to myself when I noticed that on our schedule, out of all three of us, I'm the one who has Valentine's day off.
Actually that just happened to be my Saturday off, but I was still like hello.
Anyway Coraline was phenomenal. If you see it, keep in mind that this is -not- digital animation, it is stop motion. Everything in that movie was made by hand. Naturally I have to appreciate it because I would marry Neil Gaiman in a hot second if I could, but wow, the animation is just breathtaking and fantastic.
Also I've had the song the other father sings stuck in my head for like three days. "Makin' up a song about Coooraliiine..."
Some critics were complaining that the plot came secondary to the animation and wasn't developed enough, and to them I say a.) it's a children's movie, b.) not every movie has to have a plot deep enough to drown in. Tempting things happen, girl gets involved in bad things, girl has to solve problem, take some time to appreciate the INCREDIBLE animation and the amount of work that went into it.
