Roomates (Midgard 9)
Himura Kenshin - Kenshin is the first person to find Alphonse in this world and he had helped the boy try to recover from the shock of entering such a cold place and developing hypothermia. It's this initial meeting that forged a bond between the two. At first, Kenshin was a kind of surrogate brother here (Al was still looking for Ed when he arrived in Veles) that became a stronger, more romantic bond over time.
Naruto - Al doesn't know much about Naruto. They've seen each other from time to time in passing, but never really had the chance to speak to each other for any length of time.
Nyu - The little girl has captured Al's heart and does his best to help her out, just like he would try to help anyone else here in Veles. He's sympathetic to her plight, since she doesn't have any family, and is glad she and Yorick have a 'big brother, little sister' relationship.
Yorick Brown - When the two first met, there was such a misunderstanding between the two that Al had a sort of mental break down and feared the man for some time. Since they'd become roommates, Al has made effort to put his original impressions aside and become friendly with the man. He's slowly learning that they aren't as different or as similar as he originally thought.
Important People
Himura Kenshin - Upon entering Veles, Al saw Kenshin as a quiet young man with little knowledge of English and a sad, hollow look about him. Since he had not found his brother, he attached himself to Kenshin in order to keep his sanity in a cold and heartless place. Over time, he taught Kenshin English and mannerisms and all vital points of society here as he learned them himself. Kenshin has caused Al to have a special affinity to those people who carry swords, and will go out of their way to help them keep their blades in proper working order.
In the beginning of the New Year, there was a vicious Zombie attack where he and Kenshin protected the hospital practically on their own until Ed and Xellos helped out. It was in this battle where both people became fractured, both physically and mentally. Kenshin could not speak, and Al was heartbroken with his inability to help the one he cared about so deeply.
Finally, he agreed to a plan concocted by Seiuro Hiko to help Kenshin regain himself. It... might have caused more damage, at one point. Now most of the people of Veles believe Hiko to be a perverted pedophile and Kenshin refuses to speak to him. Alphonse is just relieved to have Kenshin back with both of his personalities, the Battousai and the Rurouni.
If Alphonse thinks that such a split in personality is strange, he never lets on. He accepts both sides of this man (the warrior and the gentle soul) equally and unconditionally. He realizes that the Battousai side of Kenshin is difficult for others to accept and deal with, but Kenshin, in whatever form, has never been cruel to him.
Edward Elric - Alphonse's older brother has been missing in Amestris for nearly three years. During that time, Al has searched all of Amestris for him, and didn't find Ed until coming to Veles. He has no memory of being with his brother while soul bound to armor, and can't verify many of the things Ed claims to have happened. But Alphonse is happy that they are together here, even though in the first week they were here, they kept missing each other and communicated through notes on the wall without telling each other their names.
Lady - Lady is Al's adopted 'older sister.' She assisted him in his exams to opt out of school and has been a confidant in terms relationships and business in Veles. He hasn't had much time to speak with her, considering working with schoolchildren keeps her busy. And he doesn't want to interfere with her relationship with Kanda. Couples should have time to themselves, he believes.
Maytag - His old roommate from Niflheim, May was the first person he confessed to in liking Kenshin more as a friend and therefore revealing a part of himself that seems forbidden in Veles. She takes great pleasure in embarassing him about crude, sexual topics, and Al doesn't mind that she does. After all, it keeps a smile on her face, and since she's not here with her beloved, he feels that it's one small comfort he can offer her.
Zack Fair - Another old roommate from his Nifleim days, Zack is a close friend and brother like person to Al. However, with work and Al's self imposed work ethic, they haven't had the chance to see each other as often as he'd like. Zack is one of the few people who allowed Al to lean up against him when he had nightmares and Al felt okay enough to try to get some sleep with.
Maes Hughes - Maes is from his own homeland, but he doesn't remember himself the relationship. He's heard from Maes that the man died in the line of duty and that the Elrics were present for his daughter's birth, but knows no other intimate details on his own.
Maes is seen as a father figure, and Al is glad Edward is in the same apartment as him. If they had a choice of fathers, Al would want Maes to be their dad considering he doesn't truly remember his own father, either.
Friends
Greed - Greed is from the same country as Alphonse, Amestris. However, Alphonse is missing his memories from the time where Al was in armor, and therefore doesn't remember meeting Greed. He believes Greed to be one of those 'hard exterior, big softie interior' types of personality. He definitely considers Greed a friend and would trust him with secrets, such as Kenshin and his fear of ghosts.
Allen Walker - Since Allen's around his and Ed's age and has been through an equally traumatic childhood if not more so, Al feels a special affinity for the boy. He wants to be friends, and hopes that in the future, they can hang out more. Of course, it's going to be hard since their work and duties pull them here and there, yet he will do whatever he can to help him.
Lina Inverse - Lina is Ed's girlfriend and has become a sort of subsitute Winry for Alphonse. She's smart and funny and doesn't take any of Ed's crap, which he feels are necessary qualities for his brother. There are times when he feels a little left out, due to the fact the brothers were close, but he's certain Ed feels the same from time to time and has vowed to make certain he remains a prominent part of his brother's and sister's lives.
Sora - Sora is a sweet kid and Al's happy to know him. However, he also thinks that Sora's more ignorant of how the world works in comparison to himself or Edward, and that's saying something since Al considers himself and his brother not very world worthy. But Sora has a good heart, and Alphonse doesn't want to see that spirit crushed. He want's to make certain that Sora won't have to bear witness to the horrors he's seen.
