WHY THE BATMAN IS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN SINCE SUPERMAN
Every once and a while, change happens and causes a stir. Galileo's idea that the world has its own orbit around the sun in a circular fashion defied the ideas that the heavens were unmovable and that the sky never changed because that is what god intended, rather than it is us the Earth that changed. He was excommunicated from the church and kept under house arrest for the rest of his days. Today, history judges him as a brilliant scientists, and the father of modern astronomy (despite the fact that the Chinese, the Greeks and the Egyptians knew this so many centuries prior).
In our era of superheroes, real like Superman or those imaginary, like Tony Stark's Ironman, there is always one that is out of the mold.
... they call him, The Batman.
In Superman's five year absence, The Batman has taken to presiding over justice and law in Gotham City. However, in an exclusive interview with Bruce Wayne of Wayne Industries, he claimed that The Batman was only a vigilante, destroying Gotham rather than causing any good. However, the crime rate in Gotham has been reduced a full twenty percent since the arrival of The Batman.
Claims that a new breed of super villain has been created just to keep up with him are unfounded. One finds themselves comparing Lex Luthor and Superman to these new breed of anarchists to The Batman. Criminals find it their sole purpose to battle against any hero: the evolution of diseases against medication, HIV against the human body, the Gods and man and Moriarty to Sherlock Holmes. This is inevitable, as we in Metropolis know so well. It would be a waste to place all the good that The Batman has done for the city of Gotham and outweigh them against the negative.
Though, this might not be a popular view point - however, remember when you first heard of Superman. Not everyone can be an alien from Krypton, an industrialist with an iron suit or a boy bitten by a radioactive spider. But, The Batman is protecting the city despite of it.
