Today is June 4th, 2005 at exactly 3:41 PM. In about 22 hours, I am going to graduate from high school. I feel like I should be feeling something more than just "I hope it's not really hot tomorrow because I don't feel like roasting in the sun for 3 hours." But I'm not feeling it. Everything's happening, graduation's tomorrow, I leave for Europe on Thursday, my academic self has fully rotted away, and I am sunburned. Obviously summer has arrived. My parents are having a graduation party with all my relatives tonight, and I am not really sure why. I just watched them in a frenzy about the kitchen and all the food. And I'm just going to have to fend off bad jokes from my relatives and answer silly questions about my plans for the future. Right now, the future seems extremely close yet far far away. I'd like it to stay far away. I just want this summer to take me where it does. Spontaneous, unplanned, unscheduled. But as much as I want that to be, floating around the country in my giant red minivan, I am tied down by obligations already. School just ended and my mom's bugging me about cleaning my room and deciding what to bring to college, etc... And all I can think is, it's June. I am so excited about college, but I guess at the same time, I don't want this summer to end. I don't really care (at least at the moment) that high school is over, but I am liking this carefree-ness of the summer.
I have lost all coherancy lately, so I think this might be my last post for a little while while I try to regain my verbal abilities. But anyways, Happy Graduation everyone. I will see you all on the flipside.
Oh and...
I've been "tagged" by filipinareina (stupid callika) to do this:
"List five songs that you are currently digging ... it doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words or even if they're any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artist and the song in your blog along with your five songs. Then tag five other people to see what they're listening to."
1. "Raining Next Door" - Ringside
2. "Only Living Boy in New York" - Simon and Garfunkle
3. "The Long Grift (cover)" - They Might Be Giants
4. Shai's CD (Summer Sleeps - When Walls Are Built) - I like "Miles" the best.
5. "By Your Side" - CocoRosie
