Isn't She Lovely This Hollywood Girl...

A long time ago, well a few years back, a young man called Peter Wilson commended the songwriting of a band called Buttermonkey. Peter Wilson grew up to become Duke Special and the songwriting genius behind Buttermonkey was less fortunate to wind up as me.

Peter liked some of the songs I'd written, applauding the quirky wit and humour, which was according to him a series of almost throwaway lines with hidden intelligence. The particular song in question was called "Hollywood Girl". It wasn't about a Co. Down girl... not like Ash's infamous "Girl From Ards"! Instead it was a slow riffing tale of woe as the rise and fall of an imaginary lust-fuelled relationship is played out in the mind of our young protagonist. The girl in question was Sarah Michelle Gellar and as if that wasn't enough it sampled Britney Spears' "Lucky".

I wasn't used to having such praise heaped on me. It was like when as an eight year old, my football coach stated that I was an alright player as long as I didn't stray too far from the centre circle or that first gig review when I was described as "not as bad as I though you were going to be!"

Now however, I need to start writing songs again. Since moving home and doing the nine to five thing I have been severely hindered creatively. I blame the lack of alcohol and experiences. If you all would be so kind as to leave a comment suggesting a song theme I will try my best to write you one. Previous attempts at this have sparked such masterpieces as "Geek", "The Penguin Song", "I Love You, You Turd" and "The Stupid Emo Song". Get me writing now!!!
