When I was at "wee school" (you know the good old days when all you had to worry about was going to "big school") there were two girls who used to argue in the playground. They would argue over everything and anything. Then they started to grow up and as the old saying goes 'put away their childish things...' Well, there's no chance of a career for them in Northern Irish politics then!!!
Today I subjected myself to listening to a little while of William Crawley's radio show on Radio Ulster. If I hadn't been sitting in a company car at the time I would have launched the radio straight out of the window! The main topic of the day was an argument between some faceless nobody from Sinn Fein and his equally illustrious SDLP counterpart who had allegedly raised a glass to toast the Queen at some function or other.
Here is a brief paraphrased summary of the debate...
Sinn Fein: Are you slabberin' at me?
SDLP: Are you slabberin' at me?
Sinn Fein: I said nathin'
SDLP: You started it...
Sinn Fein: No you started it...
SDLP: I said nathin'
Sinn Fein: Aye yer ma!
and so on and so on...
Ah, if only it had been Stephen Nolan he would've cut both these idiots off.
On a more positive note for local democracy, the stupidity of both men was surpassed by that of the journalist 'hosting' the debate who used such expression s as "you have failed to miss point..." Surely if one fails to miss a point then they get the point, no? On top of that it seems like BBC journos can't tell the GCSE English definition difference between slander and libel... for future reference Mr Crawley: Two grown men slagging each other off on air is slander... me typing 'Crawley you're a twat' now that is libel!!!
