Series: Bleach
Character: Hiyori Sarugaki
Timeline: Chapter 377: Shout At The Dark, page 11 aka "right before she gets sliced out of the plot"
Personality: Annoying. Bitchy. Crude. Naughty. Unsociable.
Those words pretty much sum up Hiyori, and each will earn you a boot to the head. She's pretty violent and full of anger for one so small, bypassing most other emotions immediately for shouts and swift kicks. Her targets are everyone and anyone - but her longtime "friend" Shinji Hirako takes prominence when in the vicinity. A simple throwaway comment about anything from him turns his face into a doormat. Not surprisingly, she gives him zero respect, something he recuperates. In fact, she doesn't show respect for anything; giving her orders just makes her laugh, saving her life makes her grumpy, and her doing something you want is usually coincidence - unless you are her former taicho Kirio Hikifune. A strong part of her self is her hatred for pretty much everything - the disgust towards Shinigami and Humans is only topped by her unending rage towards Aizen and everything associated with him.
But her stubborn fury is a double edged sword. There are very few people she trusts, even less she would begrudgingly call her friends. When ignited, her rage is barely controllable - like a wildfire, it spreads quickly and wastes anything in its path, including Hiyori herself. Due to her anger, she'll often run into a situation without thinking about the consequences, leaving others to clean up her mess. Its also a reflex that hides her real feelings - if hurt or depressed, she shouts loudly and bottles the truth inside. She's almost always seen scowling or smirking in victory, and her common tone of voice is a harsh one. The softer emotions of pain and sadness are still there no matter how she fights them down, and the only one capable of getting them out of Hiyori is Shinji. She'd never admit that closeness, though.
Background: Sometime in the vague past, well over a century before the start of Bleach, Hiyori lived in the Rukongai, and presumably got fed up of the conditions. She joined the Shinigami Academy, graduated, worked her way up to the rank of fukutaicho/Vice-Captain in the 12th Division, and befriended her Captain, Kirio Hikifune, later to go down in the midget's history as "the only decent person on the planet".
Then one Kisuke Urahara became the 12th Division Taicho when the former was promoted. Hilarity Ensued, as Hiyori was none too pleased about the whole thing. She took every opportunity she could over the next nine years to beat her captain to a pulp, with the Fifth Division Captain at the time Shinji Hirako getting dragged in as a constant doormat. Shenanigans were had, creepy clown-faced scientists were set free, dorks looked innocent and the dead-life of a Shinigami was good.
Up until the Ninth Division captain Kensei and his lieutenant Mashiro went missing, anyway. Hiyori was one of the first sent to investigate, as technically she got called in before the two completely vanished, and was thus the first to discover the monstrous Hollow that the captain had become. It is unknown when exactly she became "infected" with the mystery goo that creates Hollows herself, but it was definitely before the real rescue team arrived. Lots of wtf happened, before the midget lieutenant threw up on Shinji's haori and went Hollowified-ly berserk. She kinda blacked out after that, only to wake up to the relieved-but-still-annoyingly-cheerful face of Urahara.
And a hundred years pass, to the actual canon most of the series takes part in. At some currently unknown time, the self-dubbed "Vizards" build a sort-of base in Karakura Town. They watched, they mastered their awesome mask powers, and after presumably being alerted by Hiyori's former captain-turned-shopkeeper, pounced on Ichigo like he was a fish in a room full of cats. They trained him up, D:<'d when he ran off to Hueco Mundo, and then had a reminisce about the good ol' days before stomping off to Karakura Town: Fake Edition.
Once there, however, they one-upped the exhausted Shinigami like the trolls they are. After dealing with the Gilligans, they turned their attention to Aizen and his Arrancar. Hachi dealt with the Segunda, Rose and Love with the Primera, while Kensei and Mashiro took on the young Wonderweiss. Hiyori and Lisa, meanwhile, tackled the Tercera only to watch her be cut down by Aizen himself. As that left him open, not long later did the unengaged Vizards prepare to exact revenge. Unfortunately, the lord of Hueco Mundo is a douche and deliberately pressed buttons he probably shouldn't have, resulting in Hiyori loosing her self-control and charging in to fight.
She didn't know that this would lead to disaster, and as Adstringendum plucked her away a second before Gin's blade hit her, she may never know.
Abilities/Additional Notes: Hiyori's non-unique abilities are naturally impressive, but common among Shinigami. She's strong enough to kick several grown men into walls with enough force to crack it, coupled with her expert hand-to-hand skills to make a fearsome - if impulsive - opponent. She's fairly fast for such a little thing, and proficient in shunpo/flash step. Most notible out of the "common" abilities is her spiritual pressure, or reiatsu - hers is a meld of hollow and actual Shinigami, and very pink in color.
Her first unique ability is one shared by many Shinigami - her Zanpakuto. Hers is Kubikiri Orochi ("Beheading Snake" in Japanese) and releases with the command "Chop Cleanly" ("buttegire") to transform into a serrated cleaver. While its abilities are as of yet unannounced, Zangetsu's got nothing on the snake. In its sealed state, Hiyori carries it by rope over her shoulder.
Her second is a lot rarer. Hiyori is one of eight nine ten known individuals who have access to a Hollow Mask. Hers resembles a rhino, and increases her speed and strength to greater capacity for roughly three minuets. Her mask grants her the ability to use her personalized Cero; wide blast, pink in color and fired from the mouth. Presumably she can also use Bala, which would also be pink. The individual "Hollow Ability" possessed by Hiyori is drawing power from her emotions; the more feeling (usually pain or anger) "fed" into the mask, the stronger she becomes. However, doing so is a risk, as she tends to disregard injuries. Additionally, she can create a "shockwave" of reiryoku during her Hollowified-time, sent through her hands to knock things away.
It's presumed she also has a full Hollow form (and possibly a Ressurreccion) to go with her rather fierce Inner Hollow, but as of yet this is unknown. Said inner hollow is assumed to be a more brutal, sadistic version of Hiyori herself - it resides wholly within her mind, and can try to force control. Out of the original Vizards, she took the longest to suppress the hollow and thus has the weakest control. Said control is still strong, however, but mental tempering could weaken it.

[The PCD clicks on randomly to show an empty sky. Just... empty, devoid of life, etc. it's a new PCD though, so that means a new arrival.
That is, until the audio picks up a voice that is fairly distinctive to some, and overbearingly childish to others]
I'll kill ya. Y'hear me?! I'LL KILL YA!
[Sorry, little red blur that just shot over the PCD, you can't finish that screech since there's a building rushing up to where Aizen used to be, and its got a date with your face.]
...fuck.
Sample RP: Violence makes everything simpler.
She kept telling herself that every night she went to sleep, every time she doubted her resolve in life. Life isn't kind, Lady Luck's a bitch and Fate doesn't give a damn who you are, so you have to make your own way. At least, thats what she wanted to believe. But then, as she walked down the street on her way to their little hideout, why did she see people flaunting their status and security? Why did others have homes, lives, jobs, families when she was just a monster outcast from her only home, struggling with her fellow failures to live? The careless displays made her sick. Nothing was free, everything could be taken.
Her old Captain was wrong when she said to give people a chance. Hiyori knew what happened when you let people in - they worm their way through, take everything you have and leave you to rot. Sadness, too - they take advantage of it. She wouldn't let that happen, she thought as she smacked a foot at the training dummy. She wouldn't let them try, she wouldn't - it was her and her alone in this life. Not humans, not those flimsy nice people, not the other outcasts, not Hirako...
Her foot sheared through the flimsy old wood. Definitely not Hirako, the git.
I won't fall again. Never again.
