If I'm honest Christmas this year feels rather like our current weather, a bit bleak:
We're having to meet our son and his family for brunch tomorrow, instead of having a longer time with them on Boxing Day. We can't meet our daughter, because her shift today is midday to midnight (approximately) and she starts work tomorrow at 3pm, finishing at 3am Boxing Day. And, on top of everything else, my mother had a fall at her care home last Friday, resulting in a fracture to her shoulder/elbow (I'm still not sure which - definitely not the leg as one nurse said), and has now tested positive for covid, so she can't go back to the home.
However, I refuse to sit in darkness when there is a light to be lit, and in the words of Chumbawamba's Tubthumping, 'I get knocked down, but I get up again; You are never gonna keep me down'.
So Happy Christmas to all who celebrate in whatever form. To those of you who don't my best wishes to you at this time. Thank you all for your friendship during this often trying year.
