i am not being abstract and philosophical because i am too distracted by real life. i am taking this as mostly a good thing, because all the only things that seem to be suffering are my psych journals

i just wrote a long psychological musing about that. for real.

that's what i was wondering. because they exist in a sense: you can have one apple, and when you put another apple next to it, we can understand that that is "two." but the actual words i think are entirely human inventions, are are the laws of mathematics. but also, science is based on mathematics, so some of it must have practical applications, and numbers are just the symbols we use to explain those phenomenons. so i guess they are valuable in that sense, but sometimes they seem completely arbitrary and invented.
