TEOCUITLATL: SQUARE G6

Nov 24, 2007 23:52

There is not much space in this square. Mostly it is sand on a small piece of the island that juts outwards into the sky. The sand goes on for some time until it reaches a strange gray mass. This gray mass is a dead coral reef starts off the edge of the island and climbs up it, only to start on for miles and miles up northward. This mass of gray ( Read more... )

Kurt was the first one off the ship. He made sure that the ship was secure stood to the side as the other crew members unboarded. There was a look of excitement in him that was mixed awkwardly with a sense of seriousness. This was an adventure, and also this was extremely dangerous for his crew (some of them were so young!)he had to keep an eye out for the enemy, whoever they could be.

He drew his sword, preparing to use it as a machete to cut through the dense jungle that lay ahead. Or if worse came to worse, something to defend himself with.

No doubt the Britannian military had caught word of this now. There was a good chance they were out there.

The ship was bustling as everyone took their places. The few members of the crew staying behind where running around, checking the ropes, some even leaning over the sides to cheer on the landing party. It was never quiet when there was no need for stealth, and with everyone excited about what they might find, silence just wasn't going to happen.

Vash knew the danger of what might lie ahead, but the eagerness was infectious. Not to mention the beauty of this place - er, excluding that somewhat creepy-looking wall. He took a closer look at the ground as he stepped off the ship, amazed at how much cleaner the sand looked here than on Tortuga. Were those shells he saw, nearly buried? Once they were done here, maybe he could stop to pick up a souvenir.

He moved to stand closer to Kurt then, smiling and nodding at the other man. "Nice day for a treasure hunt, isn't it, Captain?"

Kurt threw a smile at the gunner as he walked up to him. "I would have to agree," No, the island really was something else. He started off towards the jungle, stepping over a few of the crabs, and glancing every now and then at the coral. There was something down right haunting about it.

"I hope you came prepared for trouble, just in case? I have this unshakable feeling that this will not be an easy task," Though there was a smile there, just a slightly uneasy one.

He loved adventures like this one, but he was still worried about his younger crew members. As trained as they were, they were still inexperienced, and all they needed was just one run in with any military...

Everything needed to go right.

Vash walked along with him, nodding at the question. "Don't worry, I'm ready for any eventuality!" Though that came out in the tone he reserved for showing off, his voice dropped back to normal afterwards. "I know what you mean. There's no telling what we're going to find here." The way the rumors had been flying, confrontation with something was almost guaranteed, whether with other treasure hunters or the locals. Vash was hoping they'd be able to avoid it for as long as possible.

It was fine to hope, but he still had his gun on him, a utility knife, and plenty of extra bullets. Just in case.

"So, where are we going?"

"Wow, what is that thing?" Haruhi said to no one in particular as she looked in awe at the huge coral reef. "Wouldn't want to try climbing that." She turned her gaze downward across the beach. Damn it, this thing was endless! "...Well, this sucks." They really should have picked a better location. This was going to take ages to get through on foot, from the looks of it. And was there something down there at the far end of the beach? Haruhi shook her head. Must just be some huge rock or something.

"I'm going on ahead!" She called out to the captain. Or, at least, she would be going on ahead if her traveling buddy was here. Damn it, just where was that Kyon? They had to go now if they wanted to find the treasure! Kurt had said to travel in pairs, damn it. She would go off alone if she could, but for now she stood in sight of the ship, waiting for Kyon to join her.

Kyon sighed when he found out he'd been put on the treasure hunting list. No doubt this was the work of Haruhi, but he really didn't think he himself would be any good out in the jungle. He couldn't fight, he wasn't that strong, and insects always found a way to him.

He walked out of the ship and to where Haruhi was waiting for him. He had a memo book tucked in one of his pockets and a normal old machete to his side.

His eyes tore from her the moment he registered the coral. "Wow..." He stared in awe of it before reaching for his book and jotting down its details. This needed to be documented.

"Hold it!" Haruhi said, reaching out in an attempt to snatch the journal from him. "Can't that wait until after we get on the ship? You're supposed to be the careful one, but if you keep pausing to record things in your notebook you'll definitely be ambushed! Don't depend on me to save your ass."

That speech, of course, fueled itself not only out of concern for Kyon (because she totally wasn't! Not at all), but also out of jealousy. Hmph. No way. Like Haruhi would jealous of a stupid journal. Or jealous over Kyon. Hmph!

This was going to be a very long adventure if Kyon insisted on, well, turning it into a documentational journey. Which really didn't have as cool of a ring to it as adventure.

Kyon, having spent a lifetime of being wary of Haruhi, was able to successfully dodge her and keep his notebook. He shoved it back into his pocket with a scowl and said, "Fine! I'll wait until we get back," He said grumbling and following after her. Man, why was it so hot out? And were those mosquitoes? This was going to be a long adventure.

"Lead the way," He said a little dully. He watched as the captain disappeared and came back, looking around the area. The look he sent his way was of the same sort of jealousy, one that Kyon would never admit to. He was jealous of how high Haruhi held Kurt in contrast to himself. The fact that they had only met some time ago made it even worse. Why was he so important? What was so great about him, anyway?

The great thing about his work was he could just easily drown out Haruhi's constant praise of him.
