"You live everyday, with all you've got. Troubles exist everywhere, but you never give up, you always stand strong. You got that, honey? As long as there is life in you."

Now why what she remembering that of all times? The voice sounded so clear in her head, but she was almost ashamed to admit that the image was nearing a blur. It had been so long since she last saw him, before the both of them went off into the Badlands and never returned.

Pain shot through her and she let out a groan. Well, then, if she was hurting this much. She must be alive.

Winry smiled.

She didn't immediately get up though. Her head was pounding she...the memories were coming back quite slowly. One of the crates had hit her on the head, that was why it hurt so much. She'd been banged around while in the ship, and then of course...they had fallen. It was a miracle they had survived.

In that moment Winry sprang to full awareness. Wait! She wasn't sure of that! She immediately sat up but then let out a small choked noise as her body screamed in protest. She lowered herself back down for a moment, panting at the exertion that small action took and looked around. Her heart stopped hammering a bit when she saw that Greed was over by...by Beat. So Greed was okay, but what about Beat?

Winry braced herself and took a deep breath before forcing herself to her feet. She made her way over to Greed, holding herself fairly straight but there was any obvious limp in her gait.

"Greed, thank goodness you are okay...and." She kneeled down next to him, her eyes falling on Beat with worry.

There were no dreams in Beat's head. No fuzzy thoughts or half remembered memories. Only the cool darkness of unconiousness.

He was hurt, his body knew that, and it really didn't want to get up. Face the pain inherent in doing so.

But eventually the alarm bells of something bein nearby stired him to consiousness.

And once he stirred, the pain made surehe was WIDE awake.

"aaaAHHHH!!" He bellowed, rolling off the arm he had landed on, clutching it with his other one. The injured arm hung limp, and seemed to be at an ackward angle. Not good.

He looked up, saw WInry and Greed, but barely seemed to regester them, his eyes glazed.

ooc: Dislocated arm and a few broken ribs, Beat his that branch HARD, then rolled off and hit the ground. Owie

Ling glanced back at Winry a little and said with his usual not!Greed accent, "I'm fine, just aching." He motioned at Beat, "And he seems to be breathing alright for now, but hi--"

Ling cut off he started to shout. That arm did look pretty bad.

"Calm down!" Ling tried to say, motioning him to stay still without actually touching him. He didn't know what else was wrong with him and he didn't want to chance making him worse.

Finally actually looking back at Winry he asked, "What on Reial happened to us, Winry?" Last time he was out, they were on a ship. That was pretty clearly not the case this time.

Winry's eyes were focused on Beat, but when Greed spoke she frowned and raised her head to look at him. He sounded like...the scream made her jump a little and instantly her eyes were on Beat again, lips pursed and eyes focused.

Shit. Not good.

When Greed...no, Ling spoke to her she closed her eyes, pinched the bridge of her nose and breathed deeply. Okay. How the hell Ling was up and about was beyond her, and as much as she should be happy about it, it really meant nothing if they ended up dying out here. They may have survived the fall, but now they had to survive the Badlands.

They had stepped out of the frying pan and into the fire.

"I can't explain now, Ling, we have to help him." A shot of panic went through when she realized she was no longer holding the kit and she looked around, calming down a little when she saw it was back where she had fallen.

"Ling. If you're okay to stand could you please get that to me? We have to do something to help him." She could do this, she had nursed people in awful conditions before.

"Beat. Beat, we're here. We're all alive. We'll get through this, just hold on please."

Beat groaned, fighting to sit up, but was stopped by "Greed's" motions for him to stay still. He hissed, roling away from his busted arm alittle, only to cry out again as his ribs shifted.

Oh this was bad.

"W-win? We made it? H-hurt too much... ta be dead, yo." He husked. It... was hard to breath.

".... whose Ling?" He finally asked, giving "Greed" a confused look.

Ling gave Winry a quick nod and got to his feet. Miraculously, he seemed the less injured of the two, he was just sore beyond all rational thought. He groaned but made it over to the kit and carried it back over to him.

As Beat addressed him, Ling gave him a lopsided smile. "That would be me," If Beat could look hard enough, he'd notice the major differences in how they looked, from Ling's softer expression to the not so violet eyes Greed was known for.

"I'm sort of Greed's other half, its nice to meet you, despite the circumstances." Ling started to open the kit and get a few things out.

To Winry he mumbled, "His arm looks out of socket. We might have to ...realign it." He paused, looking at her, "And you need to be bandaged up as soon as possible."

"Yea, we made it." she said with a weak but genuine smile. They were alive. How, she didn't know, and for now she was simply grateful. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

She was sure that Ling's explanation would only confuse Beat more so she added "We'll get everything explained later, I'm sure Ling is just as confused as you right now." Her face become quite serious now and she stood up (flinching as she did so) and took in their surroundings. They were near a small gathering of trees, but beyond beyond that was just desert land. There were a couple residue of a couple crates not to far---they must have fallen with them, and they should go over and see if there was anything that could be used.

Winry's mind was already racing. First they would have to get bandaged up. Then they could scavenge so they would have a full inventory of what they had at their disposal. Then making a shelter--thank goodness they have fallen near some wood otherwise that would be much more difficult.

They would need to build some solar stills to get some water, they couldn't depend on finding any ponds or other sources of water around here so they would have to take what they could from the subsoil.

She took the kit grateful from Ling and nodded. "Yea, let's take care of him first." Her eyes fell to Beat's arm and she bit her lip. Ling was right.

"Ling. Prop him up on your knees." She opened the kit and started going through it, seeing what they had but mostly looking for pain killers. This wasn't going to be pleasant, but she had dealt with worse.

"Ling?... heh... Always thought Greed had ta be a nickname or something..." He said, his voice still weezy and weak. "Sorry... guys." He blinked, trying to clear him fogged brain.

"Outta.. socket? Oh hell... it ain' broken is it?" he whimpered, feeling too weak to hide his fear. He let the other two move him however they wanted, hissing and crying out anytime he was jostled or bumped.

He had saved them, but if he didn't pull it together he was going to get them killed.

Ling did his best to be as careful as possible when propping Beat up. Ling feared having to hold him down if Winry was going to try and realign his arm. He'd do it if he had too, but he didn't want to hurt him more than he already was.

"Let's hope not ah...Beat, yes?"

He glanced up at Winry, watching her work. She was hardly any better from what he could tell, but he'd keep quiet until the first one was tended to. He had to wonder what'd happened to them. Had they fallen off the damn ship? It certainly looked that way. He was annoyed he didn't know, but then, there was a reason for that, right? Greed was still there, too, but he was positive the bastard was unconscious from whatever had happened to them.

Winry shook her head at his apology. If it weren't for him, they'd be dead.

She found a bottle that would suit their purposes of nulling Beat's pain and carefully read the ingredients and instructions, she sized up Beat for a moment, calculating the most she could give him. She poured some of it into the cap and then leaned over him a bit, trying to be careful not to bump into him.

"Here, Beat. Drink this." she said holding the cap to his mouth. After he drank it they would wait about ten minutes for it to settle in.

She pulled back and let out a soft sigh. This was going to be tough. They were all strong people, but they were all severely injured. But they would make it. They had to.

A wave of dizziness passed over her and she lurched back a little but readied herself, putting a hand to her head. Her vision kept going in and out, her body was begging for more rest but that was impossible right now in their conditions. The girl closed her eyes and started breathing evenly.

"One of the pipes that was directly connected to the engine was ruptured. It started flooding the ship. Beat, Greed, and I were down trying to save as much of the rations and tools as we could in case the ship got stuck out in the Badlands. Someone opened the hatch though, and we got flushed out. We're only alive because of Beat and his airboard." she explained to Ling, not opening her eyes.

Beat cocked his head to one side, still confused as all hell to what they were talking about. Winry was talking to "Ling" like he was a seperate person from Greed, and had no idea what had happened. He was SO going to drill Winry on what was going on... later.

Right now he was enjoying the soft dull feeling that was the painkillers. He sighed, his eyes glossing.

"A'ight... do it. I'm..I'm good." He muttered, his head rolling a little.

Ling listened intently to what Winry told him, nodding slightly here and there. "So we did fall off the ship," He said after she finished. He shook his head. "That explains why I hurt everywhere, at least."

He glanced down at Beat and gave him a slight smile. "You've got my thanks for not killing us."

When Beat gave his okay for his arm. Ling held his other shoulder tightly so he didn't try to jump or anything instinctively.

Winry cautiously laid her hands on Beat's arm, watching him to see if it still caused him any pain. It seemed like she was okay to go, though so she began to feel with a little more pressure up and down his arm, around his shoulder to get an exact feel for how bad it was and if it was an anterior or posterior injury.

Once she felt secure in her analysis, she began: she bent his arm at the elbow and began to rotate his arm and shoulder inward towards his chest. Now this would be the unpleasant part, and she bit her lip. Hopefully those pain killers were really powerful or this would hurt a lot. She then rotated it outward, holding his wrist and pushed, popping it back into the shoulder joint without a moment's hesitation--delaying it would just build up anticipation.

After his breath ran out, he slumped forward, gasping for breath.

"Ohgodohgod.... r-ribs..t-too... before I.. chicken out.."

Ling narrowed his eyes when she popped his arm back into place, but didn't wince much. He kept Beat as still as he could until he was done screaming. He didn't get a look at his ribs but he was hoping they were that bad.

They were in the BadLands, Ling didn't know what to expect. He'd never been out of Ivona, himself. Greed was the one fascinated with Vohemar.

The ribs...might be a little more difficult. She place her hand on his chest, patting lightly up and down to get a sense for the severity of it...no. It wasn't too bad, Beat was a pretty damn tough cookie. Still. They didn't have the proper equipment to mend broken ribs. If it had just been an arm or leg...

Or perhaps they did. It seemed so ironic to Winry, that only a couple days ago she and Rhyme had been talking about her practicing her magic for her deemed 'emergency cases'. She use to be pretty damn good at it before she let herself fall out of practice...after what happened to Ed and Al.

There was obviously a moment of deliberation on Winry's part as she remembered that, but there was no choice. She couldn't leave Beat like this.

Winry closed her eyes and put her hands on Beat's chest again. She concentrated very hard--would she even still be able to do it after all this time? For the first couple seconds absolutely nothing happened, and she started to get frustrated with herself, but then she began to feel that familiar bubble of warmth grow in her chest, then spread to her arms, hands, and through her fingertips.

She bit her lip tightly, almost drawing blood as she strained to continue that flow of energy. Damn, this was harder than she had remembered, she really had lost her touch.

When she couldn't do anymore she pulled her hands back with a sudden jerk and the warmth instantly retreated, now leaving her more exhausted than she was before. She leaned back, propping herself up on her arms and had to bow her head and begin inhaling and exhaling evenly.
