Much to the samurai's luck, it seems that he didn't have to spend his time baking that cake that his fellow comrade wanted. Especially now since it seems that the captain just hired a chef to take care of the problem. Being one of the many who heard the woman's distressing cries about the filthy kitchen, Kambei decided to come aid the newcomer and lend a hand. He was quite exhausted after spending most of the night trying to train Daisukenojo, his new pupil. The boy is as cumbersome as an ox, with two left feet and no sense of grace or style! But despite knowing this about the blond teen, Kambei played the role of the patient tutor rather well for Beat became much more agile by the time the night was over ( ... )

The repair work from the damage done while the ship had been in Kropmork was finally done. There had been quite a few holes to patch, and it had taken Souji and Heihachi awhile, but the interior finally looked good as new. With that work done, there was only general maintenance and his own little side projects to do, so when Souji had heard the request for help in the kitchen, he'd cleaned himself up and headed over. Hijikata was cooped up in his room, anyway, and Souji thought it would be a shame if everyone had to go without dessert because of a messy kitchen. He really liked dessert.

"Hello," he called, poking his head into the room. "You said you needed help?"

"Yes! Have you come to help? You're just in time. You can have your pick of sweeping and moping the floors... cleaning the dishes or the ice chest, whichever you prefer. The oven needs cleaning as well, though I was going to do that in a moment. Whichever one you prefer."

She grinned and rubbed her dirty hands on an even dirtier apron. "I'm Cimorene, by the way. I'm not sure if I introduced myself before."

"Oh, I can help with the floors," he replied cheerily. "Just point me to the supplies." He had enough experience cleaning up after his own rather messy habits to be well acquainted with the use of a broom and mop.

"I don't think we've met, no... I just saw you needed help and thought I would stop by. I'm Souji. I work as one of the mechanics here."

"Perfect!" Cimorene moved to a corner of the kitchen where she had placed the floor cleaning things. "Here's your broom, mop and bucket. The soap and water is there. I even have a bit of lemon juice out to make everything thing smell nice. Habit," she pointed to each of the items in tern, grinning to herself in the end. Once again, she mentally thanked her dear friend Alianora for that habit.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Souji. Mechanics? Gracious, that's interesting. What exactly do you do?"

"Cimorene," she replied, stepping forward to meet him. "Yes, it's turned into a rather large job. I am very grateful for the help." Cimorene glanced around the kitchen for a moment, going over the jobs that still needed to be done. But then this Kambei took it upon himself to start cleaning.

"Alright then. Thank you very much. The soap is next to the sink. That pile right there is the one that needs cleaning. The other is already clean, though if you finish and want to give them a once over as well, I wouldn't protest." She smiled a rather charming smile and pushed the sleeves of her dress back up. "Thank you again for helping me out."

"No need for thanks." The samurai quickly said, as he dipped a few dirty pots into the sink. "It is a shame the kitchen is in such a state. I feel fortunate to have eaten out for the last few days." A mild joke at best but Kambei was certainly glad that he spent his money wisely on food. If he would have known that the kitchen was so sloppy beforehand, he probably would have rally up a group to clean it before poor Cimorene ended up tripping over all the discarded pots and pans. Its a shame that poor woman had to visit this vessel in such a messy state ( ... )

"Well, with no proper cook, I'm not terribly surprised. I used to live with dragons. If I left for a few days the kitchen quickly fell to a state close to this. I suppose pirates aren't much different. I'm not even sure when the last time a cook stepped into this kitchen."

Cimorene poked over his shoulder, nodding approvingly at the job that he was doing. Very good, very good. Quick and clean. Feeling the need to be productive, Cimorene picked up a cloth to dry the newly cleaned pots.

"I did, indeed. I've been traveling for a while and missed having a real kitchen."
