Now, who's this, walking through the corridors of the Amestris? Why, it's none other than Commander Edgeworth, the ship's old head of security. He's walking towards Bradley's quarters, back straight and stride quick, with a package under his arms. No doubt it's a late Amicus present of some sort.

At least, that's what it might look like to some people. But to others...well, the commander's presence just might be a little more suspicious to them.

"Excuse me, can I help you?"

Millie, to put it mildly, was not amused. She knew that something was up with Mr. Edgeworth, and that he should not be heading towards the captain's quarters. He shouldn't be here at all! Meg was with her as she stopped "Edgeworth", and her stun gun was under the large duster she always wore.

Spotting Millie speaking with Edgeworth, Susan approached silently, observing the man, Phoenix's warning making her wary of him, no matter that he looked the same... she thought.

"I'm perfectly fine, Miss Thompson," he replied, his voice soft with confusion. Unaware of Susan's presence, he furrowed his brow and asked, "Is something the matter?"

Millie spotted Susan, but said nothing. "I'm not happy with you, Mr. Edgeworth," she replied. "You haven't written a proper letter since you left the ship, and you didn't tell anyone you were coming! You're being awfully rude."

Susan was perfectly happy to not be noticed just yet by anyone but Millie, giving the other woman a slight nod to encourage her to keep talking with him.

"I..."

Edgeworth offered her an abashed smile, and said, "I give you my most sincere apologies, Miss Thompson. I'm afraid that I've been rather busy lately. Perhaps I can make it up to you later on? I'm afraid I really must be going now."

"Toge..." Meg tugged at Millie's collar, rubbing her nose. This didn't smell like her Edgeworth friend, so why were they still talking to him? Her Susan friend was right there! Millie just pet the egg creature.

"Something's not right, Mr. Edgeworth," Millie said, bringing herself to her full height. "Meg should have gone running to you, but she didn't, and you're awfully relaxed for someone who got moved to a new ship out of the blue." What was Susan going to do, and how long was she supposed to keep this impostor distracted?

Susan was hoping for the element of surprise in this conversation, and was very much hoping the small creature hadn't given her away. If something happened, if Millie managed to get the truth out of him and he reacted badly, she might have an advantage this way.

And if Millie didn't manage that? Susan could have a go herself. She could be rather... persuasive.

"I have been around a lot of strange people lately," he said breezily. "Perhaps the scent rubbed off? You know how animals can get...and as for the ship, well, I have had time to get used to it, you know."

Edgeworth straightened his posture and cleared his throat, before he added, "I would love to talk more, really I would, but I'm afraid your captain needs me. Until next time~"

And with that he walked forward, hopefully before Millie could give any further resistance.

"I don't think so."

Millie put her arm out, blocking the way. "I think there's something you're not telling me. In fact, I know there isn't, because Mr. Edgeworth would never say anything in a sing song voice!" And that, probably, was the creepiest thing ever heard---a sing song voice coming from Miles Edgeworth's body.

"I strongly suggest you tell us," Susan told him, stepping forward herself. If this man was Edgeworth, or anyone who had known Susan longer than a few days, would have known that tone of voice did not bode well for anyone who chose to refuse her.

At first Edgeworth tried to walk around Millie, but once Susan stepped forward, he froze in his tracks. His smile stiffened into a rictus as he looked between the two women, and he said, "I'm afraid you both have me at a loss. I have no idea what you two are talking about."

This time, Millie reached for her stun gun. "We're not stupid, Mr. Whoever You Are," she said, glaring. "We know something's up, and we want to know what!"

She stared him down, daring him to try something foolish. "Oh I think you know quite well, she averred, seconding Millie's question with a dip of her chin.

Edgeworth's back stiffened and his smile vanished as he stared down at Millie's hand. He pursed his lips together and, when he looked up, there was a sharp scowl on his face.

"You're both acting completely absurd," he said, his tone both angry and offended. "I expected that women with your experience would be more sensible than this!"
