Life on an airship was surprisingly quiet so far. Then again, that could be because Kuro was used to disaster and mayhem being an almost daily occurrences because of the company he kept. He had spent the better part of the day napping, and was...well, not exactly bored, just no longer sleepy.

He was walking around on two feet, and really only noticed the person in the hat because the last "person" who had shown up in his life wearing something similar had actually been five clockwork cats standing on each others' shoulders in disguise.

Well, the guy wasn't wearing a mask, so it was probably fine this time. If it occurred to him that staring might be rude, he certainly didn't care enough to stop.

Out of the corner of his eye, Edgeworth caught something staring at him. He halted immediately and looked around, only to see that it was a cat standing on two legs. Well, that wasn't so bad. He took a step forward, and-

Wait a minute! Edgeworth turned around again and gaped. Cats weren't supposed to do that!

They usually didn't and Kuro wouldn't have either if he was back home because he was worried it might be too much for the old couple who took him in to take. But this wasn't home.

He raised a paw in greeting, "Yo."

And now he was talking. However, after he thought about it for a moment, that wasn't too strange; as absurd as it was, this wasn't the first talking cat he had seen. Besides, perhaps he wasn't a cat in the strictest sense of the word. Perhaps he was a demi-human of some sort. That wasn't strange in the slightest. He had simply overreacted. Nerves, that's what it was. A case of nerves.

"Erm..." Edgeworth cleared his throat, and said, "Hello."

Kuro's eyes flickered briefly to the missing arm, but otherwise made no move to bring itup. Usually, when someone loses these sort of things, they either don't bring it up at all, or didn't shut up about it ever. Either way, it wasn't really a topic worth pursuing.

"You new or something?" For all that Kuro liked pretending that he was horrible at recognizing people, it really was just an act. Then again, being new himself, it was likely that he hadn't met everyone yet.

He caught the cat's glance towards his arm, but it was short lived, and he (Edgeworth assumed it was a he) certainly made no effort to make a big deal out of it. It was the best he could hope for, he supposed, but his flippant attitude still grated against his nerves.

"Yes, I am," he said, with just the briefest hint of annoyance. Edgeworth caught himself quickly; it would be ridiculous to expect the same amount of respect here that he received on his previous...assignments. He was just another crew member, and a new one at that, and he'd better get used to it. Edgeworth composed himself, and now calmer, added, "I plan on starting work very quickly, after I get settled in."
