The hallway near crew quarters daggersinsmile January 28 2011, 04:03:31 UTC
Dinobot had resigned himself to the fact he was, regrettably, on a crew full of organics. But he did not like it, and made sure he'd made the Captain aware of the fact. Still, he was the ship's only Quartermaster, and he was going to do his job. If that meant he had to at least know the crewmember's names, then so be it. He did not fail.

At the moment, he was patrolling the ship in Beast Mode. There was no reason to use his Robot form to perform that duty.

Fang walked the ship leisurely, but always seemed to be on the alert. It was lucky really, because when she saw a dinosaur up ahead, she didn't pause for a second before pulling her staff free of the holster.

"What've we got here?" She asked, sounding nearly conversational. "Of all the things I expected to find on a ship... I've gotta hand it to you; you're probably right at the bottom of the list."

The corridor was probably too narrow for her usual method of staff-based combat, but if that thing ran at her, the least she could do would be skewer it.

Stopping in his tracks, he glanced at the weapon, and then at it's owner. His eyes narrowed. "I admire boldness only to a point, organic. If you want to challenge me, you'll have to do it in the combat room." Dinobot, of course, was ready for a good fight at any time, but Prime had made it clear he was not to hurt any of his crew.

Still, the velociraptor could not hide his grin as he looked down on the woman. "Though I'd hardly call it a challenge."

Somehow, Fang managed react without surprise at the fact that the raptor could speak. It was unusual, sure, but certainly not unknown. Besides, what did she know? Maybe monsters spoke with a human tongue now, who was she to say what was normal three hundred years after her time?

"Oh, really?" Fang said, putting one hand on her hip and arching an eyebrow in defiance. "You might wanna quit judging books by their covers, lizard."

Granted, she didn't know that he was a, ah, 'robot in disguise', but in all fairness, she'd been raised in a town where skirmishes happened with monsters of his ilk all the time on the borders. She'd had fun hunting them down to prevent them becoming repeat offenders, too.

Dinobot actually managed to smile a big, toothy grin. "I could say the same for you, Organic." He did not transform into robot mode, as he did not feel it necessary at the moment. He doubted it would come to an actual fight here in the hall, and even if it did, he would never give himself an unfair advantage when battling a lower life-form. It would not be honorable.

Dinobot had been acquainting himself with the Convoy's roster. He did not recognize this woman- so she must be new. Obviously, introductions were needed. "My name is Dinobot, not 'lizard.' I am this ship's Quartermaster. Optimus Prime is far more lenient than I- I do not suffer fools as well as he."

Oh, so this thing was crew, was it? That was a little unexpected, even to her, but she could deal with it. She'd seen a lot of what people called 'demihumans' since waking up and it made sense for some to be serving in official positions. Even the more... lizardy ones.

"Is that right?" She asked, tilting her head and stowing her weapon away once again. "The name's Fang, not 'Organic', -- I'm the new Pilot."

The way he spoke seemed, at least to Fang, completely at odds with his beast-like appearance. Still, she wasn't about to go judging things by their appearance, so she didn't say anything to that effect.

Doubtless, now was when Prime would say something like 'It's a pleasure to meet you,' or 'welcome to the crew.' Dinobot snarled at the thought. Useless sentiment... he would never see the point of it. Instead, he said the only thing he remotely less-than-offensive he could think of. "Try not to crash into anything, then. I would detest the paperwork."

"It's lucky my plane isn't exactly like everybody else's, then."

Well, it wasn't. Rather than being a stationary piece of metal until fired up it was, well, summonable and spent most of its time as a mechanical dragon. It saved on space at least and, since it was intelligent, it could think even if she was concentrating on something else.

"Bahamut isn't one for crashing into things, so I think that'll save you a bit of effort on the paperwork front."

Paperwork was extremely annoying. explaining a plane crash would take at least eight forms he could think of. And he couldn't do paperwork in Beast Mode, no matter how many times he tried. So any way of lessening the amount he had to fill out was always to be taken advantage of.

He simply 'hrmphed.' "Good. See that the technology masters have a look at your plane. They should be aware of its capabilities should it need repair."

"Hey hey, no technology masters are getting anywhere near my plane, you got that?" The thought of anybody touching Bahamut made her itchy.

They wouldn't understand him, in his curious nearly-organic and definitely mechanical way and, since he self repaired, they wouldn't be any use to him anyway.

Dinobot frowned, regarding the human closely. He was trying to take his position as Quartermaster as seriously as he could. Which, given he was on Optimus Prime's ship, was saying something.

"It is required that someone other than yourself be acquainted with your plane. I do not care about any ridiculous ownership issues you might have." The whole idea that Organics 'owned' machines was preposterous to him, anyway, but that was another issue entirely.

"Bahamut's not exactly a plane," she said, folding her arms and raising a cocky eyebrow at the presumption that the lack of need for a mechanic was down to 'ownership issues'.

She sighed, having hoped to not have to explain this to anybody. It sounded ridiculous and she knew it, but it was the truth.

"He's a mechanical dragon who can transform into a glider, all right?" She nearly sounded impatient, but that wasn't quite it. "I really doubt a mechanic would be much help to him; he tends to handle most of his care himself."

He was forced into silence at that. 'Transform'? Could it be a Cybertronian? He quickly processed this information. 'Dragon' would seem to indicate a Predacon. His Spark jumped. Could one of his comrades have been awakened as well?

He tried to keep his tone as neutral as possible. "...In that case, perhaps it would be best if I took a look at him personally."

"Sure thing, but there's not enough space here."

She looked around at the corridor, damn sure that she wouldn't be able to summon him in such an enclosed corridor. She wasn't entirely happy with somebody poking around at her Eidolon, but she could deal with it knowing that Dinobot was a Quartermaster.

More eager to see exactly what her plane was than he would ever admit, Dinobot feigned indifference. He was not particularly good at it.

"Then, I suggest we go to the hangar deck. It should be relatively empty at this moment."

"Lead the way," she said, sweeping her hand in the direction of the hangar.

She knew where it was, but he did seem rather tantalised at the idea of a transforming dragon. Perhaps it was the dinosaur thing, she thought. Dinosaurs, dragons... they're all the same to her.
