Late, but what the hell. surfaceshine January 25 2011, 19:13:36 UTC
Dean was remembering why it was he hated nine-to-fives. Not, mind you, that this really qualified as a nine-to-five and not, either, that he wasn't alright with solid work; it's just that it was boring. The ship, he knew, was moving but that hardly counted when the scenery inside stayed the same all the time. And really, since he'd had the best luck lately sleeping in short snatches of catnaps, there was only so much time he could kill dicking around on the network (not like those dicks were answering, anyway - or maybe even could) and plotting how to go about tracking down his asshole father once they landed.

In short, he really should have headed back down to the engine rooms if he was going to head anywhere. Instead he'd grabbed his knife, the Impala, and a cartridge of each of his standard rounds and headed down to the cargo bay. It'd be cooler, anyway, and Dean could always just head back to work on the engines when he got bored.

Nothing like being in two places at once. Is this ok with you? son_of_the_lake January 29 2011, 04:00:03 UTC
"Hi, Dean!" said Hisoka. "What's with the heat?--nothing's shooting at us down here."

This was by way of a joke, as he himself was armed with a sword, and there was also a revolver in his jacket pocket.

Dean had been poking at his difference engine as he walked into the main area of the cargo bay; not paying much attention to where he was going, he still managed to avoid running into anything, even when Hisoka greeted him. Glancing up, the lopsided grin wasn't far behind.

"Hey, dude!" He glanced down at where the Impala was settled comfortably against his hip, and the grin took on a slyer kind of edge; he patted the wear-smoothed handle absently when he spoke. "You know, just showin' my girl around. She gets lonely if I leave her behind."

His other hand closed the difference engine and slid it away into the worn personal satchel he'd brought specifically for the purpose; glancing at the other three in the bay, he didn't wait to be invited over, but instead picked up his stride purposefully towards Hisoka.

"Did I miss anything yet?" That, too, was a joke. How much freaking trouble could a stack of boxes in the belly of a ship be?

Hisoka was no longer sitting on top of the three-foot-tall crate. He approached. "Not much, just some talking cargo," he said, holding out the sack of sandwiches, offering one to Dean.

"Well that's... not normal." He frowned towards the crates and boxes, looking at the other people looking at them, then glanced back to Hisoka. He placed the hand that had had the difference engine in it on his hip, within easy reach of the holstered Impala; the other reached to accept a sandwich. Hey, just because something was weird didn't mean people didn't need to eat.

"Thanks. What're they saying?"

Hisoka forgot to bring the pie. XD son_of_the_lake January 31 2011, 08:51:17 UTC
"That one Bang was sitting on said, 'DESTROY, DESTROY, DESTROY.' It seemed to believe in repetition as a means of demonstrating sincerity."

FU, AU - I want Dean to make a Dalek reference SO BAD RIGHT NOW. surfaceshine February 1 2011, 00:45:26 UTC
"...huh." Dean had wasted no time shoving approximately a third of the sandwich into his mouth at once, and proceeded to chew while he thought. When he'd swallowed, he took another, smaller bite and shifted it to one cheek to speak around, motioning with the remainder of the snack at the crates. "That be the one you dropped earlier, then, or what?"

It was a joke, but now the young hunter was looking at the rest of the items, eyeballing the blocks of metal and the canvas they were wrapped in. He didn't know what constituted toys these days for the potentially upper crust, but it didn't look like whatever was in pieces in their cargo bay would count. He popped the rest of the sandwich into his mouth to free up his hand, reaching for his difference engine again. "Still, vindicated or not, I'm not sure I feel up to being freaking destroyed today. Figuratively or otherwise."

Hisoka looked chagrined. "You know, it probably is the one I dropped," he said.

Then he smiled, not looking very contrite. "Maybe I made it irate," he suggested.

P.S. Dean will forgive the absence of pie. This time. surfaceshine February 1 2011, 23:05:18 UTC
Dean was occupied for a few minutes then, fiddling with a post to the network, glancing over the responses from the Captain and the First Mate. The latter, he tilted so Hisoka could see. By this time, the repetitive dual-syllabic battlecry was beginning to get on the middle Winchester's nerves - there was a bit of vindicated glee edging the glance he cast the crates.

"Well, that settles it then - where're the crowbars in this joint?"

Message understood. XD son_of_the_lake February 2 2011, 09:06:34 UTC
"Right here," said Hisoka, walking over to a partition at the end of the cargo compartment. Various tools used to maintain the area were stowed in a rack bolted to the wall. He brought back a couple of crowbars and tossed one to Dean. "Have at!"
